I finally got to trying out the DT-ASBB method, everything went fine until I went to try sizing them, in a new Lee .410 pushthru, that sized them from.413 to .407. 320 gr, Lyman #2 water dropped, cast last Mon, coated on Sat. Cooked them at 375 for 20min. Paint stuck good, passed the smash test beautifully. The sizer did wipe some paint off, but, I'll hold off on judging that, because of the amount it got sized. It was a bit more than an effort to put them thru the sizer, I only did 3. The original notion was to knock about .002 down in size, not swage the freakin things.
So, next step is either go down to the machine shop and hone out that sizer, or clean out the Lyman and run them thru that. And go back to the shop i got that paint from, and find out what it actually is. May look around for a shellholder adaptor for the Coax as well, pushthru plunger wouldn't go in the jaws when I thought about trying it after the first bullet.
I like the DT method, put in a few too many pellets, had to do some digging to find boolits. Found that swirling them in the pellets, after picking them up and wiping paint off, recoated them. Tried them in two batches, first from a preheated oven, 15 min, then 5 extra for good measure, second from a cool oven, for 20min., paint seemed to be good either way. Non-stick tinfoil worked like a damn, no flash, no tinfoil gaschecks. Nice fat boolits were not inclined to fall over.
Twas an interesting experiment, to be tried some more yet. It is quick and simple. Have to work on the transfer from bowl to tray a bit, to figure out how or whether, to wipe powder off the noses or not.
Had a few shiny spots on noses, from handling them with my fingers, tried tweezers also, meh on the result on using them. dip fingers in powder , then p/u, seemed to work best.
