Powder recommendation; 223 55-69 grain

Used a lot of different powders in that cartridge. Finally settled on Win 748. Good accuracy and velocity, and it meters like water. - dan

Ramshot Tac is a phenomenally good powder for metering too.

By contrast Varget is a great powder but a pain to meter I found.

I have used a bunch of 8208 for 223 (probably 35lbs+ at this point) and it has served me well but I do have a stash of other suitable powders. I think N140 will be my go to when 8208 runs out.

Not that you can get it anymore but have ~10lbs of D8208 (Dominion?) and it is amazing for the price. It was cheap and meters well, I have had great results with it but it is spicy. It states on the packaging to drop the equivalent 8208 load by 10% and that is accurate. If anyone misses that they could be in a rude awakening 😲

Agree. I have few jugs of their powders (and a bunch i got off of G.I. Brass back in the day). All work well as long as you work up. - dan
