Powder shortage - is it easing up?

Its available but 2016 has an election in the USA and we all know what happens.....Americans get spooked and buy mass amounts of everything. Reloading powder and primers are on the shelves once again but could be short lived. Keep your shelves stocked for the next panic buy.

Cheers!!

I hope this is enough proof for everyone. Right from the horse's mouth today.

Proof? Did you really think that they'd let you in on a secret? That email just means that until it's discontinued, it's not discontinued - you'd get the same answer about any powder. If it happens, that will come by way of an announcement, until then it's nothing but a rumour, and there are lots of those.

I have seen a lot more powders available lately than I have in a long time. Not anywhere near it should be though.

No matter how well stocked the shelves in the stores are though, a tear still forms when I know there is no W571 to be found, ever. :(

Wow not too many guys even remeber w-571 let alone want it. I got 8lbs of that stuff last year from an old timer who quit reloading.

Dont reload pistol, but never really ran into a shortage. I also have 7gun shops I stop at regularly so I have selection. I will say price has gone up 10$ a pound though. Cabelas even is up to 47.99/lbs

Heard a rumour there was an issue with Alliant Powder not having bilingual packaging.

I heard that also but I really can't believe it. The last bottle I bought couple years ago now had a french sticker with about 10% of it stuck on the side. It just kind of flapped around until I removed it :)

saw this at a store a few weeks ago so the rumour is definitely untrue. seagull is right.

Well, in Calgary, Wholesale Sports has maybe one or two types (plus BP). Ditto TSE. Bass Pro has given up and doesn't even pretend to carry powder anymore - the whole display section is gone. The much-vaunted opening of Cabela's was - for the powders I wanted - a dud. Maybe things are easing, but one sure couldn't tell here.

I've had a couple of recent experiences where gunshops are so used to powder being out of stock, the automatic response is to tell me a powder is out of stock, or discontinued, until I point out it's location on the shelf.

Wish I could come across a find like that! It was my fave shotshell powder, still have a thousand or more hulls, wads, for the loads I use to assemble. My 16ga has been sad ever since it was discontinued. Lol

have a few empty round metal tins though!! They work in the MEC shotshell presses instead of the plastic bottles too!!

Picked up a couple of pounds of Tite Group at Wholesale Sports in Edmonton this week. Was pleasantly surprised at the price of $26.95/lb. Was expecting to pay more with our peso like dollar.
Hodgen Powder seems to be around in decent supply but everything else is pretty scarce especially Alliant powders.

In Toronto, the price is even cheaper than this, but I still envy you because the 13% Ontario tax just kills me.

Wholesale sale sports in Langley B.C has a very good selection of powders, bought 4lbs of titegroup for $100. I don't reload yet but pick up components for when i'm ready and for when i finally get my dream .357 revolver.
