PPC 3 Gun Matches

All I can say is that they followed the NRA TPC rule book and modified it a bit. What can I say I wasn't the one who put it together . In regards to duty firearms is of course pistols and ARs are good to go but you really don't see 28" shotguns being used in duty. Just my 2 cents

You don't see 26" shotguns on duty, either.

Given the name "Multi Gun Canada", is there a desire on the part of the organizers to take this rule set/organization national?

just for reference the barrel length is "interesting", my versamax tactical with 22" bbl is the exact same OAL as the 26" remington 870 i just won at a match.... so to translate that, my tactical with 26" barrel would be the same length as a 30" 870.

so setting restriction on barrel length makes little sense, so does limiting semiautos to 5 round when they can legally hold 7+1+1 for the 3.5" guns (for reference we have had great results with a 10 shot limit for pumps, and maximum legally allowed for semis up to 10 rounds)(yes there are 2.5" shells out there)

It doesn't matter what restrictions a certain rule set put on equipment, the good shooters will always out train any restriction placed on them, making the restriction moot. People that don't train will always be at a disadvantage, and will never be on an equal playing field.

Guys you are getting into a whole bunch of suppositions that are not correct. I have not put up the rule book and if I did a lot of the arguments would be gone. Here is an example the 5 rounds in a semi shotgun is what the barrel states, we have people running the Versa max and the 930 Mossberg with more than 5 2 3/4 shells . Precision component you can run a gun with a barrel longer than 20 inch (precision has a seperate rule book ). The name Multi Gun Canada came from discussions that intent was to promote it across Canada and each Province it would take into account , club rules as to what was allowed and what your CFO is okay with. Each match the match director can still decide for example slings, no slings , steel rifle targets what ever you are allowed. The rule books are the basic rules in place and it is a living document and changes as the sport grows and equipment changes . The intent was to build a foundation that would grow and adapt but bottom line was to have fun using up 4 guns in a match and lots of shooting.

I like the idea of adding the precision rifle aspect into things, would make for a fun match. Also like the idea of having a standard rule set and divisions across Canada for multi gun matches but would have to see the rules first. Would be cool to travel to other provinces matches and not have to change equipment or ruleset mentality.

Why?
I suppose someone could publish a rulebook snd say "okay everyone these are the rules governing multigun all across Canada"

So what..?

Unless I'm 100% in agreement I'm just gonna use my own rules.

As far as travelling to shoot other matches and having to adjust oneself re the rules....
If you can read it shouldn't be a problem.

Any org than artificially limits capacity to LESS than the legally permissible should be kicked in the junk.

I'm referring to the 5 rounds in a semi shogun BS.

You did not read my post , once again it is what the barrel indicates . For example if it says 12 Ga 3.5 inch chamber you can run 7 plus 2 3/4 12 guage as per the bulletin on CFC website. We do not limit to 5 rds semi again if you can legally load more GO FOR IT.
There is a match at Barrie again on the July 11 date . Come up and see for yourself.

Just wondering how the match is planned. Do you have stages designed yet? :) although I would love to come my shotgun and I will be in a clinic that day in Alberta. Best of luck and safe fun to all at your match.

For those of you who are showing interest in the discipline . The rule book has been through a series of changes. The discipline is called now Multi Gun Canada it involves up to 4 firearms pistol, shotgun, carbine and precision rifle. The basis of this discipline was the NRA PPC division called Tactical Police Competition. Due to our unique laws it was modified for use in Canada, the original division were Patrol and Tactical based on law enforcement firearmsand was limited to duty length firearms. The divisions now are Iron sights, Optical and heavy Metal (45 cal or greater handguns and 7.62x39 or greater cal) since the changes the max length shotgun 26 inch barrel, rifle is 20 inch barrel max.The matches are dynamic and practical(use of Tactics)involving lots of rounds and multiple guns at the same time during the same stages.
The changes came as a result of consultation with CSSA and Barrie gun club board.it has been approved by the CFO as a discipline at Barrie. Any further info PM me as I am one of the originators of the discipline and the lead instructor. The entire program is available through CSSA with our assistance.
There is a complete rule book, Range official course and Instructor manual available.

Great !! Really like to see new events. Im very curious as to how the stages are set up. Is the precision component timed and part of the overall stage? or separate altogether?
Thanks for sharing this, I'm in Sudbury I'd love to see something like this come up to our club.
Imo, 3-gun or multi-gun are not really competitions, they are games and a lot of fun at that much like I.P.S.C. As such they try to simulate a context. The rules help create that context. What ever they are, if they are well though out, they add to the realism of the game aspect while still creating an even playing field across all competitors. Personally I'll never wear speedo to shoot a gun, I'm not THAT competitive but there are those who only see the competitive aspect and find the rules get in the way. I'm in it for the gun, run and fun :D
pm sent.

based on and the actual rule set are two completely different things. I can think of a dozen different multigun rule sets for different groups just off the top of my head, doesn't mean these will be the same as any of those.
