Ppq q5 match range reports

LOL if only I could blame the gun for that...maybe I should edit out the scoring portion of my video. :)

I like the part at the end where you start swearing. I would have made a fortune yesterday if I had a swear jar at the range. FWIW, you shot the stage about a second faster than I did...of course, I didn't have any Mike's or Delta's...lol.

The PPQ ran great all day and I ended up using three different types of ammo to get rid of some leftovers.

Oh okay, I see how it is....did you check out our stats on stage 6? :p

Just don't look any further than than that please....I completely blew two or three stages!

Would I be correct in thinking that's an IDPA match?

It was an IPSC style match in Nanaimo.

No, I haven't seen the scores, I had to leave early. Are they posted yet? I blew a few stages too, still not used to the PPQ trigger over my 1911.

I have pics of the stage scores but forgot to take a pic of the overall. I don't think they are posted yet. You did really well on most if not all. You will see that our definition of blowing a stage is slightly different lol.

On the subject of the Q5, it ran well for me except for some let's say operator error. On a stage that should have taken 5-6 seconds and 11 rounds, I missed a steel target and had to reload on empty chamber. Slide did not lock back as I was riding the lever as is pretty easy to do on this gun. Racked on a full mag....except I guess I slipped off the slide and/or didn't pull it all the way back and didn't realize until it went click not bang. That was a painful one. My fault though on both aspects. I cannot post the video due to excessive profanity...

The Q5 has polygonal rifling, and I believe the PPQ has traditional land/groove. From what I saw from a quick google search they may have moved the PPQ to polygonal rifling as well for current gen but I'm not sure.

To my knowledge, m1 is land groove, m2 and up is polygonal.

As stated before, the PPQ and Q5 are using exactly the same barrel. If the process has changed from conventional to polygonal then it will change for both guns.
Go argue with Walther, this is what they are advising. To make it simple, older production may have used a different rifling than newer production guns.

A couple vids from my latest match with the Q5. Runs flawless. I did load 9 instead of 10 in my first mags on two unloaded start stages...to avoid any issues racking on a full mag under stress.

"2 Alphas. 2 Alphas. 2 Alphas. Alpha, Charlie"
"Alpha, Charlie"

Alpha, Charlie? Alpha, Charlie!?!?!? Maybe it's time you get yourself a Glock.

Just kidding, nice shooting and I really like those guns. I'm trying to get one of my co-workers to pick one up so between a few of us we can collect all the long slide striker fire 9mm's.

Lol. Ironically the top shooter in that match was shooting a Glock. :) I'm still really new to this...this was my 5th match. I definitely don't feel that the gun will be holding me back in any way.

Did I just see that correctly ? Some guy runs across in front of shooter on his way to engage first targets with gun in hand ?? I'm not sure how the rules apply but if that did happen I think the shooter or RO should have stopped. I'm probably over reacting without the real facts but am more curious than anything.

When did you first see the gun? ;) That was the RO and gun was still holstered. I get how one could make that assumption, but no, you did not see it correctly.

It seemed odd to me too, but as long as everyone's safe it's cool. As usual good shooting.
