Precision/Sniper/Tactical

When I e-mailed Coretac for my Spuhr, I gave them specs of my rifle, and the distance I was planning to shoot and they gave me a recommendation on which mount to use.

I found their suggestion worked out perfectly. Might qant to give them a shout and ask :)

Coretac Solutions? Never again! Good that it worked out for you. I rather deal with Wolverine or any other sponsors here seriously.

Here is my experience with Kamran from Coretac Solutions:

Ouch, ok, that sounds like a pretty crummy experience. Yeah, I would agree with you that the service from them wasn't particularly friendly.

As for which mount, I'm using the SP-4002 (o moa cant) for my Steiner (similar dimensions as the S&B) which is sitting on top of a 45moa rail. I also have the SP-4602 with 20.6 moa cant, sitting on top of a 20 moa rail. Both rifles are flat tops hence the mount.

For your rifle, you may be able to use the lower 34mm mounts:

SP-4001 - 30mm tall, 0 moa

SP-4601 - 30mm tall, 20.6 moa

SP-4006 - 34mm tall, 0moa

Hope that helps :)

So Mr. Donut, out of all those higher end scopes, which one is your favorite and which one do you think is the best value?

To tell the truth, I really can't tell the difference in clarity between the S&B and the Steiner. I haven't had a chance to play around with the Vortex and the S&B beyond 200m, but the tracking on both the Bushnells and the Steiner are A+. On a piss pouring day, overcast skies and lack of sleep, the Steiner made the target at 1,300m appear bright and clear. Both the S&B and Steiner are retardedly expensive and the only reason I grabbed them was because of significant discounts and a little fibbing to the wife.

If it weren't because of those circumstances, I would be perfectly happy with the Bushnell HDMR and XRS rifle scopes.

That being said, you probably shouldn't give too much weight to my opinion as I'm not a very good shooter and my eyes aren't particularly good.

Pgw love

Here is some love from PGW, from the Coyote to the LRT-3 . Crappy cell pics as it was +30C out. Working it to 1000M.

Mister Donut, which height spuhr mount did you get?

I'm trying to decided which height I'll need for my custom 308 build that should be done in about a month and a half to mount my Tangent Theta on.

I'm using the SP-4002 and SP-4602, both are 38mm tall and work perfectly for flat top chassis type rifles. :)

depending on your chassis/stock selection you COULD go with the 34mm one. When I had my PMII on my cadex chassis there was a HUGE gap with the 38mm one. The 34mm would have worked as the rail is higher than hand guard.

Mister Donut, can you please post some pics of your rifle that uses SP-4602 that sits on 20 MOA rail?

My FN SPR A5M XP has 20 MOA rail but it is not flushed with the rifle.

Wolverine suggests SP 4002, but if I can go lower with my scope then I want to go lower as long as it has enough clearance between the scope and the barrel.

You want the SP 4001. Lowest available Spuhr option and it will clear the barrel.

Yep, check out post #2023:

The first rifle posted (Savage 110 in the tan Cadex chassis) is using the Spuhr 20.6 moa mount on a 20 moa rail for a total of 40.6 moa.

A few photos down, there's another tan rifle using the 0 moa mount on a 45 moa top rail. Keep in mind, both of these rifles are flat tops, so as Macroman said, you should be able to get away with using the SP-4001, the lowest mount Spuhr has.

Look at your rifle, take a straight edge along the rail. You'll see how much extra room you got to play with between objective and handguard. If you had a full length rail then you'd need the taller mount, as your objective would be impacting the rail.

I did use tape measurement and input the measurement on the website. I wonder if SP4001 will not clear the barrel and SP4002 will have too much room. Has anyone ever used the calculator? Is there a way to be sure if I don't have the scope yet to try it on the rifle? I am trying to order it at the same time with the scope to save shipping.

My pal used a lower mount for is TRG-22 (not a flat top), though I'm not sure if he used the 30m or 34mm tall mount:
