Precision/Sniper/Tactical

As a matter of fact, the rear monopod and other "accessories"/"additions" are pretty much the only interchangeable parts. The Tactical's stock won't accept any other R93 barrels, whereas mine can (i.e. I can take a 270 Win. from an R93 Offroad and slap it onto my stock, change the bolt head and voilà: strange looking deer rifle). On the other hand, I can't take a Tactical 2 barrel and put it on my stock; the mounting points aren't spaced the same as the captive bolts that accept them. On top of that, the Tactical 2 is designed to handle the .338 LM, whereas the LRS2 isn't, which explains the lack of barrel interchangeability (safety).

You are right about the scope mounting: Tactical 2 has a Picatinny rail integrated atop the barrel at a 10 MOA taper, whereas the LRS2 accepts only saddle mounts, so any tapers have to be a custom job (as was my case).

I imagine this cleared things up.

Redman, I had a chance to put an LRS2 and my Tac2 side by side last week. At my suprised, the mounting points are spaced the same on the LRS2 and the Tac2. The difference is inside the receiver, the groove that support the barrel inside the Tac2 is about 3x larger and deeper than the LRS2. In other words, your .308 barrel would not fit in my Tac2 because the diameter at the chamber would be to small, the barrels of the Tac2 are much bigger then the rest of the R93 line:)

I knew you'd chime in sooner or later :p

So it sounds to me that the Tac 2 308 barrel would then be sitting pretty low inside the Tac 2, or is the part of the barrel sourrounding the chamber made with a really rage diameter? What about the recoil lug in that groove? Is it the same?

Love the M700's....no over-sized bolt knobs!

Here is my tic tac in .308 with mark 4 6.5-20x50 LR/T M1 scope and BORS system.

Nice rig. Is the BORS the gizmo attached to the scope? Wouldn't mind a little more info on that setup.

Yes, is the device attached to the scope. Roughly it is a ballistic computer just go on barrett web site you will find the specs and operator manual. They tell lots of detail. Wolverine supplies sell it if you are interrested

It can only be use with some leupold mk4.

hello jonesjimbo

I do not use it yet... I receive it dec 23 and the weather is -25C is too cold to go at the range. But the programmation is very freindly. You can access to the cartridge program very fast (barrett had preset .50bmg, 416 barrett, 338LM, 300 winmag, 308 win 30-06 in memory) 4 buttons to set all the functions is very simple. But the thing I most like is you can enter the parameter of your own cartridge in Barrett ballistic software (bullet weight, BC, name, 0 range etc) and download it in the BORS with USB cable. This is very usefull when you are reloading. But as I tell you I did not made any test yet. Im planing to do some in march or april when the weather will be better.

This was the first time shooting my 700 at 400yds... and I was impressed.

DSC00722.jpg

Measures approximately 0.49" center to center.
3-shots shown. And I had 1 shot that flew 6" high for some reason.
Hornady .308 168gr Match A-Max
-10°C. Wind was blowing 10-20km/h from behind.

Hiding the flyer under the Glock :), and that hole on the far left is from a holepunch.

Hey didn't anyone tell you that kind of shooting is not possible unless you spend more money on a HS Precision stock and a new barrel, ;)
Seeing that makes it even harder to wait for mine to get here, same thing just not backwards:D

Yeah I contribute this to being a fluke group and near impossible to repeat with the factory rig. But once my McMillan stock and Krieger barrel get here I'll be able to reproduce this kind of shooting on command.

backwards :p lol

Those pics should answer your questions;)

Hey, yeah, I see - much deeper, and the Tac 2 has two sides trimmed from the part of the barrel around the chamber, unlike the LRS2... Did you ever try putting the LRS2 barrel on the Tac 2? Is it that phsically impossible? Is the recoil lug "slot" in the same place?

Will put up pics of my new full custom CZ527 6.5 Grendel Kevlar in a couple weeks. Took parts from 3 different 527's to build, Shilen barrel, Warne rings, First Focal Plane Leupold Mk4 TMR. Weighs under 9lbs, and reaches to 1200 yards. Robust, center feed, detachable mags, short throw bolt. It's getting gunkoted green and inletted into its Kevlar stock next week hopefully.
