Precision/Sniper/Tactical

It's not great, but not as bad as a stevens 200. The recoil pad is cushy. The forend is a little wiggly with pressure, but it is very well free floated. The mag well is great with the metal release.

It's not so bad that I feel the need to replace it immediately. I would like something with a hook though.

what did you replace it with? I'm contemplating buying it because it's cheap, but if i'm going to have to spend $400 on a better stock....

You don't HAVE to replace it. The rifle shoots sub MOA out of the box....well, at least mine did, and 5 of my pals have these and they all get sub MOA out of the box with the factory Accustock. I went full-retard and got an XLR Carbon chassis for mine but that was because it was more of those "I want" impulse moments.

What you see in the AccuStock is what you get: mag feed, alluminum bedding, free floats the barrel, and super mushy recoil pad. If you want more, like adjustable comb and LOP, then maybe you can replace the stock. If you don't need that stuff, then the factory Accustock will do just fine.

My 16" did not come with accustock.

Really? It looks a lot like the one that came with mine.

Maybe it is an accustock, just didn't have the sticker on it? Savage plastic stock, soft recoil pad, free floats the barrel, magazine bottom metal.....does yours have the alluminum bed? If so, I'd hazard a guess that yours is an AccuStock but it wasn't labelled?

You got yours through IRG right? I remember they had 16in 10TRs, but then after a while, they stopped listing them as 10TRs and called them something else. The main difference was that they offered the same rifle with a 16in barrel rather than the standard 24in one.

Nice toy Arrowhead! You have good taste.

Got mine a couple months ago. I really like the entire design of the action. I will likely buy another badger before anything else.
How do you like yours?

Specs for those who are curious:
Badger M2013 Short action
Badger 30MM standard height rings.
Shilen SM .264 barrel chambered in .260 Rem
Atlas Bi-pod with AI spigot attachment
Vortex Viper PST FFP 6.5-24x50

I realy like it, bolt is a little bit stif compared to a standard 90 deg but nothing to realy complain about. I will have to do some work on the mags the get 100% feeding with the 6 Dasher but again nothing major. Worst part was watching the gunsmith do the work on the AI, said to myself "#### there is no going back now" :/

I already had the Krieger in stock (from preveous built) once it's done I will probably put a Proof Research on it...

Nope, plastic innards. If it had an accustock, I'd keep it. You still have that one?

Yeah, when I took the action out of the stock, there was definitely an aluminum bed, just like my 700p. Sorry, I didn’t take a picture of it, but it was definitely in there. I don’t have the stock anymore, flipped it on EE to help pay for the XLR chassis, haha!

Thanks, the extreme flatness has it's benefits haha mosquitos are bearable with pants and long sleeves. I'm surprised you can't see the swarms of dragon flies that were around. They're doing a good job of getting rid of the stupid mosquitos and gnats.

This is my "portable precision" rig. I build it with the idea of coyote hunting but haven't had the chance to get out to hunt with it yet. I chose the XLR because it looks awesome and because it is a folder, making it easier to store / transport, especially in the wheeler. Initially I wanted an AICS but the XLR is 1lb lighter. The Tikka is a T3 Tactical in .223 and like all Tikkas, it is fantastic. To be completely honest, it was really good in it's original configuration with the factory stock, and a lot lighter, but this has the cool factor and I do prefer the AICS mags. The scope is a Vortex PST 4-16 Mil/Mil FFP. Unfortunately, the crosshairs are a bit too think for my liking. I usually stick black dots on white paper for a target from 100-300m but the cross hairs on 16x completely cover the dot so I've been forced to switch to the large black bullseye target. As for accuracy, I've been getting sub-MOA, mostly in the .75MOA range, but I'm pretty sure I could do better with my Sightron SIII 6-24x50 with the much thinner mildot reticle and SFP. I'm running 69gr SMKs with 26gr of Varget in Winchester brass with CCI BR4s for those who are interested. I estimate muzzle velocity to be around 2900fps.

This is a hasty pic. I'll try to remember to bring my camera to the range next time I'm out.

Ah, my 700P, that's a rifle that doesn't see as much action as it deserves. My Cadex 700 was built from scratch from the previous owner, but I still have the Remington 700p. It was a birthday present from the wife and my first bolt action rifle, so it's kind of hard for me to part with. In regards to progress, I’ve only had these rifles out to 300m, but I’m pretty happy with both of them so far. I’m not going to tell you that they shoot sub MOA all day at 300m because I’ve never taken any target sheets out. What I can tell you is that they are a blast to shoot at a steel gong from 300m, and are capable of picking off small jars of peanut butter(no bigger than a standard coffee mug), spray paint and Gillette shaving foam from 300m with little difficulty......so minute-of-peanut butter jar? Maybe I’ll do a proper range report one of these days, but I’m having too much fun doing stupid things with them right now.

Apologies, and thanks for the compliments on the photography, but the camera did all the work I'm afraid. Just a simple Olympus E-PL3 set in auto mode, haha!

Anyway, here are the details for the Cadex 700:

Action: Stainless steel Remington 700 s/a, ATRS bolt knob
Barrel: 20in Bartlein, M24 profile, 5R rifling, 1-8 twist, ATRS Gill Brake, ATRS Enhanced Recoil Lug
Trigger: Timney
Chassis: Cadex Defence Strike Dual
Glass: Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50mm LR/T M5 Illuminated TMR, Leupold Super High rings, Vortex bubble leveller, Leupold flip caps
Bipod: Champion 6-9 pivot bipod

ATRS trued the action, all the work to get the barrel mounted, Cerakote the barrel and action and assemble it all together.

The XLR 10TR:

Action: Savage 10TR
Barrel: Savage 10TR 24in, 5 R rifling, 1-10 twist, GRG Competition Muzzle Brake
Trigger: Savage Accutrigger
Chassis: XLR Industries Carbon Chassis
Glass: Millet LRS 6.5-25x56mm Illuminated Mil-dot/hash, Millett Tactical rings, Weaver Extended Multislot 20MOA, Vortex bubble leveller, Butler Creek flip caps

Don't laugh, hah, the Millett works just fine and places rounds exactly where Strelok tells me to. I did order a Busnell HDMR, but I've had such good luck with this Millett that I don't want to jinx anything and am almost hesitant to take it off. Anyway, I'll try out the HDMR and from the reviews I've read, I will probably like it. It will sit in an ADM AD-RECON-SL mount. I just hope it clears the 50mm objective with the 20MOA rail, haha!

What would you say the biggest difference between the two chassis are, and why you picked those two instead of say, something from ACIS or MDT? Still learning...:)

My 1st entry into the long(er) range precision game:

Remington 700 SPS Tactical, .223, 20" barrel
Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 scope
Weaver 20MOA extended base
Burris XTR (low) rings
Choate Ultimate Sniper Stock (painted with flat black Krylon)
Mystic Precision MPOD
