Guys. Give me the low down! I want a long range rifle/sniper rifle/precision rifle call it what you want. I bought a remington model 700 vsf 308. Its at the gun smiths getting a few things customised to my liking. I also picked up an elite 4200 6-24x40 mil dot for my babby. Now I have used and with great results standard leupold 2 piece base's and medium rings on my hunting rifle. I noticed on pictures of other fellows long range rigs they are using the same base and rings, and others (Farmboy for example) are using Mark 4 Tactical Mounts from leupold with the one piece base. What is the take on 2 piece base's. I realize there is no real comparison. For example the 1/4 degree slope for long range shooting and that it will sit the rings perfectly uniform, but is it a HUGE deal. I intend on shooting for sheer fun out to 1000 yards. Does leupold make the one piece base relieved for a left handed bolt? (i am a lefty i confess).

Started with a "Barska" 10-40x50mm ilum-mildot scope and could only get
300m out of the turret but good glass (can see.308win bullet holes @300m)

After a talk with Jr. of TSE I was out thr door with Nightforce 3.5-15x56mm ilum-mildot
also Magpul stock and grip(Wolverine) ...right then Carry On

oh man thats beautiful. Why do you mock me when I am so broke haha.
I will post some pictures of mine when I get it back from the gunsmiths. I am gona put tps rings and base's on mine
 
Are those tps rings and base? looking good! I narrowed my choice down from tps or badger for the base. Does anyone have experiance with both of them for how easy on remmys they are to get at your brass? Thats the only thing I would like to poke around about. Otherwise I am gona give tps a whirl in 7075 aluminum for weight and strength

Rings

They are night force bace and rings I've never tried them before I like badger rings they seem to work great for me. Just wanted to try night force for this rifle.

Steve David: This is what mine looks like right after I did the exact mods as your dads..I love it!
I should have new optics (Leupold MK4 4.5-14x50 LR/T or NF 5-15x56 equivalent) to replace the 3200 Elite by September. Note that I alternate between Harris & Versa-Pod from time to time..:)
