Price gouging

My LGS powder price went from $48-$58 depending on stock age to $75 for all. Diesel went up 40 cents in a month. #####ing about auction prices is bit silly. How many are selling powder they bought for $20/pound?

You missed the point. These guys are buying up stock and flipping it. I have enough powder to not really care myself but I can certainly see how it would chap some others.

I've bought and sold several batches of stuff at Extreme Range Outfitters. I think they're a wonderful service.
Sold stuff at good prices and low commission.
And bought a few things at what I thought was quite reasonable prices, and some other items at somewhat high price when I couldn't find it elsewhere and needed it. I didn't mind paying the top bid for those items.
And I also passed up a lot of bids on stuff that was selling too high. For me.
That's how markets work. No need to whine if your pockets aren't deep enough.

I can't speak to who or how the auction inventory is developed. People seem to be paying those amounts. I am disappointed that a vendor would consider weighing shorter sighted gains - in my opinion - in favour of longer sighted business goals like others here value like myself. But I am not in the business and I don't know what the goals are.

I mostly see it like Longwalker, especially the part about passing up on bids that was selling too high for me, but without the deep pockets. :) I don't have those. :(

CCI primers are $100-$ 150 per 1000 stores can't get them? You got 5 years or more to wait for lower prices. Not happening.

Everyone assumes the prices will drop, but i have doubts. If demand eases, they will just back off production.

I really don't understand your angst here. That's like being POed at the person who bought gold at $25/ounce in Mexico in 1970 and running it across the border to Texas and getting $40/ounce the next day.

It was great while it lasted.

Back when Bitcoin first came out and collapsed to 90 cents each, I picked up a thousand. I couldn't do anything with it, no one wanted it. Then it started going up in price and I "got rid of it at $9"

I felt pretty good about it for a couple of days.

Did I blame the fellow that bought it from me and is now living in the Bahamas in a lovely Villa on the beach??? No, but I'm envious as hell.

You may be confusing your feelings with envy????

I literally said I have enough powder not to care. Being somewhat empathetic towards others is not envy, honestly your whole post is just garbage if you thought you were making a point to me. I guess comprehending my post was too much work before typing out a long, snarky reply. Profiteering is a scummy thing to do and considering the global circumstances and the OP's specific concerns with whatever retailer is being talked about, that's what this is.

Whining and sniveling about reality isn't called empathy.

How many times for how many years have the boys on here told everyone to stock up this was coming again and worse than ever
I don't feel one bit sorry for anyone that didnot listen and now cannot find much and when they do it is real expensive
Kudos to the guys that seen an opportunity to make a few dollars from the ignorance or stupidity of others
Just my useless 2 cents and yes I have many years requirement stashed now more than I would normally because I listened to the guys here
Thank you I say to them
Cheers

^ not everyone can afford to “stack it deep”. Many were affected financially by covid.

Surprised so many are justifying blatant profiteering. Life’s not all about making a buck

The more who get priced out of the hobby the less the young generation gets involved in the hobby.

How many hoards get tossed by clueless widows when guys buy “lifetime supplies” they never shoot?

The lack of empathy in this thread is disturbing. I love the free market as much as anyone with half a brain but it’s not an excuse for unethical behaviour

I got into reloading two years ago or so. I look at what I paid to get into a Dillon Press with all the fixings then and compare it to now - not sure I could/would have done it now TBH. The actual press hasn't increased too much but all the things you need to create the actual ammo - Caliber Conversion Kits, Dies, Quick Change Kit - plus the components - have gone up dramatically!

Very true, but I am helping out two people that are just getting into loading, so finding them enough components to keep going is tough. I did ,manage to find one guy, an 8lb jug of R-23, which was a nice surprise, and he buys whatever I find for him, so he will get by, but the other guy isn't as quick to react, when I find components, so he still hasn't accumulated much.

I help with wads , hulls and shot but not my primers or powder any more. 90% of my rifle stuff I sold off and kept just enough to take me to the grave
Cheers.
