Price of powder. Eeeeck

As I understand it the Cdn mfgr powder is exported to the US, packaged there and re-exported to Canada for distribution and
subsequent retail. Alas, that distorts pricing, availability and selection...

Haven't seen powder for under $48 a pound in months. When I seen 8 pounders 2 years ago it was $320 all plus tax. Everyplace around here is $50.99 a pound.

I always thought exploitative prices on powder were inevitable once the export ban the US put on powder/components some years ago? Things have been going up ever since. Not like we can just buy from the US like it's a computer part.

supply is down,demand is high,dealers increase prices to increase profits,simple economics,they jack up prices because they can,there will always be somebody with more money and no problem spending it..look at the 22LR shortage in the US,rich guys where buying up 1600 round cans of CCi Mini-Mags for between $400.00 and up to $556.00 the most expensive one i saw sell on GB,people with money will always get what they want,

That's right. stoopid with two o's. I'm gonna shoot less and buy none until sanity returns to the market. Shooting is like real estate. Way overpriced.

I use N320 all the time for .45ACP. Just loaded some Berry's 185gr HBRN with 4.2 gr of N320.

Sweet thanks, I have read it is clean burning too. Expensive, but may cave in an by the 2kg - should get me through the summer of shooting, how far does powder stretch
by the pound for pistols, or acp in particular?

I would really like someone to explain the math to me, it can't be the exchange rate. 8lb'ers are 200 ish US so 260$ CDN. That's retail. There is no way (or at least I highly doubt it) the CDN importers are paying US retail pricing for their powder from the suppliers.
I get it, there is shipping and import fees I'm sure. But I would really love to see the actual numbers on those, just so I know how much I'm actually getting raped.
