Primary Arms GLX 1X Prism Optic

Would an older vortex flip magnifier work behind this or would it maybe need a riser? I am not familiar with the different configurations, I know it's a bit off topic but also I have a Eotech exps2? That I wondered the same thing with, with the magnifier, I know I can unmount and try it.
Anyways, I am hoping the glx x2 comes in soon although some guys I have read were saying 3x is the way to go over the 2x, or you may as well just do the red dot.
Not sure with the Vortex, but plenty of people running the PA magnifier behind the Eotech.

A lot of people opting for the 3X.

I would like to compare the SLX 3X to the new GLX 1X, just to see any differences.

It's so close to the end of the year, I'm going to wait for Shot show to see what Primary Arms has in store for the 2025 season.

I can see them coming out with the GLX features across the prism line. Perhaps even a PLX

Here's a solution.👍

One of the attractive features of these sights is the range finding capabilities of the reticle. Without them, it’s just a glorified red dot. That said however, the etched reticle (no battery required), shake awake and other functions are still very attractive. And the long eye relief too, which is typically a major limitation of most prism sights. I might try actually shooting with it to decide if it’s a keeper or not. Just disappointed my eye sight is failing faster than I’m willing to admit.
That's how I look at these latest generation micro prism's the 1X for me is similar to a red dot but with the advantage of an etched reticle that will allways work and an adjustable eye piece and better performance for people with astigmatism.

At 1X I don't really need the man sized target ranging feature, A simple dot with a larger circle and possibly a bit of a reticle with a few marks that can be used to hold over would work for me.

The 3X unit is better for longer ranges and more suited to a ballistic/ranging reticle. in my opinon.

Two pictures, 1 is the 1X on its own, the other is with a 3X behind it taken with a Motorola phone 👎View attachment 833089View attachment 833090
Thanks for the images, The 1 X image you posted looks larger then what I see in my 1X but you've reminded me that most of what I don't like about my 1X is more to do with the fact it's the 9mm model. The hold overs on the 9mm carbine reticle are all so close together that to my eyes it is too much of an obstruction and the way the dots are sized under the chevron does not draw the eye in nicely to the main chevron inside the horseshoe.. My eyes are still pretty good but I do have mild astigmatism.

If you remember ask the PA guys at Shot Show about their next gen 9mm reticles.... a simple fix the the current one would be to get rid of the first large dot under the chevron and let the user just hold between the chevron and the lower dot to approximate that hold..... a bit or a less is more solution.

Oh, and while you have their ear at shot show...... maybe suggest some thread in extension tubes with flip up caps in the box for the micro's.

:)

That 9mm prism is still the SLX line right?

I have been hearing rumors of expanding "multi reticle" options

Don't be shy to email their customer service, they love & want feedback.
People are afraid of the tech changes around AI agents etc..... but data collection is a thing and it sure looks like a Company on the cutting edge might want to tap into some AI agents to scour the internet looking for gold.... :)

The 9mm micro I have is the SLX 1X.

You might want to consider the Vector Paragon. Not as feature rich but simple reticle and brilliantly clear glass. I have one on a 9mm and love it.

I spent some time with my new GLx tonight and think I’ll keep it. I moved it back and forth along the rail and adjusted the diopter up and down and found a sweet spot.

I also learned that daylight/outdoors is much better for judging clarity of reticle image.

As for LARPing around indoors, turning the illumination on is also helpful. I really like how the shake awake feature powers off after only three minutes and instantly comes alive when you move it.

Still haven’t shot it yet but happy I’ve got it dialled in now.

I have considered them, their reticle looks ok but their 1X suffers from the same "short" coming as the primary arms micro's..... in an effort to make them as short as possible there is no lip for flip up covers.... I'm not a fan of the rubber bikini's and would prefer caps.

Glad to hear you got your GLX dialed in, I've noticed that most red dot's look better to my eyes outside as well which works well for most of my shooting..... :)

Here's the New PA red dot GLX & SLX MD 21 w solar fail safe & a new CQB reticle that is selectable in what part you want displayed .
