I’ve done lots of surplus 308 and 303 brass with mine . Just take your time . Should work fine for 223Anyone have any experience with swaging 223Rem ammo? Im looking at a RCBS primer pocket swager. Seems to work well on videos I watched on U tube and is reasonably priced. Thanks
I like that, can work for depth uniformer and general cleaner at the same timeAs I was doing a few k of .223 and crimped 9mm this how I deal with the crimp.
I've been doing it this way for a long time, I'm not removing a bunch of material. I'm not doing more than a tenth of an inch around the area where the crimp was applied.Boxhitch - Post #14 - I am like you - not sure if missing brass, right there, actually makes any difference or not - I had read many folk simply "cut out" the crimp, instead of swaging the brass back to shape. I suspect that I loose more than I should - so I can not say if Cutting or Swaging is "better" or "longer lasting".
That’s what I noticed, running a Lyman small primer pocket reamer into crimped .223 brass only removes the crimped lip at the pocket opening, it doesn’t do anything noticeable to the bottom of the pocket.I've been doing it this way for a long time, I'm not removing a bunch of material.
