Primers are more powerful than a hand grenade

The Marine Sargeant Major had good reason to hate the Navy since they buggered off leaving the Marines holding the bag without the desperately needed supplies that the Navy took along when they fled the "slot". Not very sporty at all.

Having thrown a few grenades back in the day I can attest that they are far more explosive than 10 small primers. When a grenade goes off in a trench and lifts you off the ground when you're lying next to it its pretty fricken skookum... ;-)

The grenades we had during the Viet Nam war had a primer to light the fuse on the detonator.

In high school in the 1960s we lived next to a Marine Sargent Major who brought home the upper portion of the grenade pictured above.

He was teaching his two sons how to throw grenades in the back yard. Everything was going fine until the detonator didn't spit along its length when it exploded. When the detonator went off it came uncrimped and flew between the three of them and hit their sliding glass door behind them leaving a spider web cracks an BB size hole in the glass. And this ended the training session on how to throw a grenade when the Marines wife started yelling at her husband.

Awww yeah the old M26A1 Lemons

Pretty cool though when you throw a row of them in a bonfire! Kind of a delayed reaction as only one or two went off then a bunch went off at the same time. The group gathered around the fire scattered....It was amusing to watch.

Well this has been an amusing thread to read.

Roughly 2800 grains x 0.7 (ish). Rough ballpark of 4000 primers. But the space 4k primers takes vs the charge of a grenade, and the fact primers aren't sealed in a metal fragment casing.. pretty much what I thought.

I learned a long time ago not to try to persuade peoples opinions at a gun counter. If you're ever caught arguing with an idiot, you will always lose.

Reminds me of a guy I overheard next to me at the range. He had a new shooter with him and was explaining that pertaining to 9mm that 124 grains referred to the powder charge. They went on to say that the 147 grains had way more felt recoil due to the increased powder charge.

They could be cop-killer high-capacity gunshow loophole assault primers, that could blow a child's head clean off. Why so called law-abiding citizens should need to stockpile thousands of these military-style explosive packs I don't know? Do they expect the deer to be driving tanks? But with Trump in charge, we can only expect the endless litany of primer-related atrocity to increase yet further.
