PRIMERS at 500 per K

Not going to criticize anyone selling their primers for a crazy profit, maybe they really need the cash, but even if they don't, people cash in on investments all the time. That being said, times of scarcity can also be an opportunity to strengthen community...

A fellow overheard me desperate for primers in Cabela's and offered to sell me some. He asked how much I needed and I said I would be grateful for just 100 to get me through, he offered to sell me 200. He basically charged me what they would cost in normal times and was fully aware of what he could get for them.

His generosity spoke volumes about who he is as a man and reflected positively on the shooting community. This is definitely not the first time I have recieved a helping hand from gunnutz!!!

I think we'll really see how the shortage is if we start seeing primers selling by the nickel bag and the dime bag. In the depression it wasn't unusual for the local hardware stores to open boxes and sell individual cartridges. A bit before my time, but the old timers talked.

A shooter may develope a severe case of the vapors if he doesn't have enough supplies to shoot out every rifle he owns and his spare barrels. Most of the rest think they have lots of ammo if their 20 box is mostly full. If that guy has 100 primers and a pound of powder in reserve he's rocking, compared to factory ammo hovering above and beyond 100 bucks.

When all I did was hunt with my rifles my reloading supplies were next to infinite...Now that I like to shoot steel at long range it never feels like there is enough in my cupboard.

I went into LGS today and he had a brick of small rifle magnums in his hand as I walked in. Traded a brick of small pistol primers for them. $0 out of pocket.... I'm happy, I think dealer was happy. I think he was ready to sell the primers I nabbed for $160 for the brick, so there are still good folks out there, not everyone is gouging... at least I don't consider the $160 ask to be gouging considering what the rest of the prices are out there. I don't think they're a site sponsor so I don't know that I can give them a shout out, but let's just say it's a well known auction dealer that just opened a location in Speedy Creek... and he has some more primers in stock

For the record, canadasgunstore.ca has cci magnum pistol primers for 12$/100. Not sure about their shipping cost but probably decent.

I think people who pay outrageous price today will feel cheated when the shelves are full again. I remember some people paying 300-400$ per brick of 22 during the drought being very unhappy when the price came down to something more normal.

We live in abnormal times. What was the price of gas just 5 years ago/ People pay what they do for anything they can get NOW. Fuel for my truck was 1.06 2 years ago, now 2.19 . Do I buy it , YES . Am I poed, YES! but I still but it! Can I change it? No, but my vote wopuld maybe help in the long run by getting rid of the problem that started the whole mess we are in now, both in Canada and the US. Get rid of the Commies in Power first.

My god, where do you live that gas is $2.19? $1.399 here

Almost better off just buying complete ammo. Geez

Depends what you're shooting. If you compare .308 Win for example it would be hardly worth it with 50 cent primers and 100 bucks a powder. On the other hand if you have a 300 Weatherby where the cheapest Weatherby ammo with Hornady bullets is around 120 a box you'd still be able to load it for about a third.

There's always the chance that people have powder and bullets in their stash. You can even change to a different powder or bullet if you have them. Without primers you have nothing.

A friend and I dropped off enough cases of primers at the auction to pop the high end of the auction bubble if its a bubble. At least guys will be able to shoot if they are out. Likely show up on the site in 3 weeks.

Only 10 minutes left.

10 bricks of large rifle mag primers went for a low of $505 per brick to a high of $655 per...One lot of 500 LR mag primers went for $530...NUTZ.

On this auction I sold 10,000 primers and got 5800 dollars. Half 215m and half WLRM. Likely sell some more. Crazy not to, since I'll never run out in my lifetime.
