At these type of prices, I'll focus on other hobbies and sports. Crazy inflation and mark ups!
I would not be shocked if the same investment group owns all, or almost all, of North American production..... there has been a pretty big push to monopolize over the last 10 years.... I recall a few years back the local paint store said that some company was buying all the different paint manufacturers.
Time for a go fund me,crowd sourced, start-up, non profit Co-Op ammo manufacturer in Canada.

Nobody is saying inflation isn't caused by the government printing money. That's obvious. What we're saying is 5% or even 10% inflation doesn't account for a 100% increase in gas or a 500% increase in primer prices.
Yes, inflation is a real thing, and it's making everything cost more. But if you think inflation is the sole reason despite the fact that a crap ton of big corporations are reporting record profits then you're being myopic. Phenomenon are rarely caused by a single source.
It sure would be nice to hear from ATRS and or other Canadian gun stores who would be willing to be transparent on what they are seeing. It doesn’t add up, yes guns have gone up, but somewhat in proportion to inflation and high demand…. Is there ever a justification for such drastic increase in prices for primers? Even if supply is awful, in the passed it never changed the price much, it just made people wait…. These prices set a precedent that will start a rapid decline in this sport….
Someone in the supply chain sees the high demand and almost non-existent supply, and is jacking prices up to maximize their profit. Its basic supply and demand curves, the sort of thing they teach in ECON101. It would be nice if ATRS was able to identify where along the supply chain this drastic price increase is being tacked on, but its entirely possible they don't really know either.
As you can see by the responses in this thread, there are already people who are saying no at the current price. As price goes up, demand goes down. Once supply goes back up, prices will have to come down for demand to use up the supply. What price will they settle at when they do come back down is anyones guess though.
Unlike Cabelas and the other big box stores who do their own direct procurement we are obliged to deal with Canadian distributors such as North Sylva, Big Rock etc, so are not privy to anything but dealer pricing. What we have seen is that components especially have risen in price at far higher rates than inflation. Kinda like fuel prices compared to food or clothing types of inflation.
Primers for example have increased in dealer cost by 300%, projectiles about 100% over what we paid last year. Powder I can't really comment on as we have not had powder come in from well over a year. The weird thing is Vitavhouri powders. These although still real hard to get do not seem to carry as inflated prices as say Hodgdons powder do. No clue why however.
