Driving is a necessity, shooting is a hobby....makes a huge difference.

You are free to use public transport and to car pool.

And you can drive a little econo box that gets 50 mpg.

It is not up to the state to determine what my recreational interests are.

Please note a hint of sarcasm.

On every front it is pretty clear that this "government" has declared war on the citizens.

And nobody cares enough to hold them to account for their actions!

The court cannot even be bothered to hear Covid cases until September.

This should help you to understand the sad state of affairs that will only get worse.

Private companies are jacking up prices, using Covid/supply shortages/war in Ukraine as an excuse, and its the government that is at fault? lmfao

Shells profits for 2021 were nearly $20B. Canadian Tire and Walmart both posted strong 2021 earnings. The list goes on. Its corporate greed, not the government. 5% or even 10% inflation does not account for chips at costco going up 30%, gas going up 50%, or primers going up 500%. (I'm not saying ATRS is price-gouging, but clearly SOMEONE in the supply chain is given the prices listed at the start of this thread.)

Blaming the government is EXACTLY what these companies want you to do, its much easier on the big companies if you are blaming the government and not them.

Big companies did not impose a OIC or state intent to ban firearms from private citizens.

But I do agree they are much of the problem.

Just check all the advertising and you get the picture.

Most serious shooters should have anticipated the shortages and adjusted their supply. For those who chose not to invest and stock up back in the day, they have no choice but to pay what the market is charging or spend elsewhere. Until demand decreases, prices won’t decrease. I am still shooting ammo from 2005. When I see a deal I buy, when it is a price gouge I don’t. The US drives the prices and they tend to hoard to the extreme.

Sadly the way laws are going, my problem is being able to lawfully shoot all of my ammo before firearms are banned. I guess that’s a good problem. We all have the friend who tire kicks and awaits the old prices as well. Those guys are all simply going to stop shooting and sell off their supplies. Hard to get new comers into shooting when an afternoon of doing so costs an arm and a leg.

I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with Canadian central banks literally doubling the amount of currency in circulation over the last 2 years. "It's those silly corporations that are gouging" - not.
Many saw the writing on the wall long ago (before the VID) and hoarded a decade worth of components / ammo. In fact, many of the hoarders ARE the corporations themselves (supply chain managers are a position for a reason)
If you think this is bad, imagine what happens when we jack up interest rates on our debt. No more easy money/credit to go around. Things will get MUCH worse.
Inflation is a self-fulfilling prophecy - If people think prices will continue to increase, they will continue to hoard. Great reset.

You will own nothing and you will be happy...especially things that go boom. I fear we're at a point where the pot is starting to simmer and will boil over when no one expects it. I say days/weeks at this point. All it will take is another "wave" and lockdown and people will clear out stores and cause panic. Just look at Shanghai right now.

Looks like I'll be conserving ammo for hunting only now. One bullet can go a lot further to acquire food than a tank of gas.

Thank god there's one person here who actually understands what's happening.

The evil that is being implemented throughout western civilized countries is not sustainable.

At some point the sh!t is going to hit the fan.

I don't blame the prices on the government. Thats the Qanon mentality. Inflation, for whatever reason, is affecting every country on the globe. Business has carte Blanche to raise prices and they all are...supply demand...
Canada has shipped tmilluons of rounds of ammo to Ukraine and I guessing the US is 50x that. This will all need to be replaced. So much for the supply.

No large rifle primers at Canadian Tire. Price was 12.00 per hundred.

Gun shop had less than 1,000 large rifle for 13.50 per hundred.

Some pistol and small rifle, but not much.

Every developed country printed billions in money with no value. It was never a mystery this would happen.

I would not be shocked if the same investment group owns all, or almost all, of North American production..... there has been a pretty big push to monopolize over the last 10 years.... I recall a few years back the local paint store said that some company was buying all the different paint manufacturers.

Time for a go fund me,crowd sourced, start-up, non profit Co-Op ammo manufacturer in Canada.

Yes, this is already mostly happened. Vista Outdoors owns Federal, CCI, and Remington primers. So that’s a pretty significant portion of the overall market.

Inflation is so much fun, and its just getting going. I need to take a hard think about how much I want to shoot the 300 PRC this summer. I don't think prices will drop any time soon, so I may have to drop by ATRS after work and get a sleeve of BR2s. Gives me an excuse to talk to them about a 338 build, to dull the sting.

With Trudeau and the BoC increasing our m0 money supply from $105 billion before covid to nearly $500 billion last summer (now at $377 billion), the only thing surprising about inflation is the sheer number of people who think the root cause of it is something else. Must still be getting their news from CBC?

Nobody is saying inflation isn't caused by the government printing money. That's obvious. What we're saying is 5% or even 10% inflation doesn't account for a 100% increase in gas or a 500% increase in primer prices.

Yes, inflation is a real thing, and it's making everything cost more. But if you think inflation is the sole reason despite the fact that a crap ton of big corporations are reporting record profits then you're being myopic. Phenomenon are rarely caused by a single source.
