Primers

Handgun and small rifle primers I see the most, which isn't saying much. Large rifle primers are beyond a premium price, closer to insane. The only large rifle primers I saw (Federal 210) were going for $40.00 per sleeve of 100 at a gun/hunting store in Southern Alberta.

They’re starting to trickle in, I’ve seen a pistol and small rifle primers at a local Canadian tire.

I got a hundred Federal Large Pistol primers for a large TH coffee, from a long distance rifle shooter/reloader.

He's had them kickin' 'round his bench for 'bout 30 years. So to be safe, I'll load a single one to start.

Small pistol and small rifle began to trickle in here in Ontario. Large Rifle not so much... better chances of running into Big Foot or Aliens than large rifle primers...

In the US lrp have just started to become available ( Rem). This is the first time since October. There are dozen of scams listing primers for sale. I think it’ll be a while before they get here. Keep your eyes on the large TRUSTED dealers. Price was $135/1000 US.

Sorry if this has been answered on another thread, but what is the cause of the primer shortage?

A few issues which caused component shortages:
-pandemic - people quitting their job, dying, factories shutting down, low staff
-less raw materials
-larger demand from the public
-federal government contracts
-Russia/Ukraine War
-Bullet manufactures making their own ammo
-Politics
I'm sure there are other reasons, however, I can't remember them all.

Must be a coincidence but, ammo and component prices went up while Clinton/Obama/Biden were in office...

The manufacturers didn't run 24/7 , and still not ship any primers for over a year then. The military and law enforcement contracts are using up all of the primers that they used to ship for reloaders.

This, but to add, Remington going bankrupt as well and having to shut down and then restart production.

Shotgun Primmers always available. Last 1,000. bought on April- 1 , for $80. + tax. Others I have stock piled for some years.

I noticed a couple days ago that Cabela's no longer lists primers at all online. Previously they were either "out of stock" or "not currently available" when they didn't have any. Any insights on that situation? I have a Bass Pro store locally, getting primers shipped didn't cost any more.

This situation sucks. I recently bought the gear, read the loading manuals in anticipation of starting to load my own in retirement, and no primers. Anybody remember how long the last shortage I’ve been reading about lasted?
