Going in 2 weeks, Why would that matter for the current discution?

No offence intended...you just seem to have a pretty strong opion on everything related to IPSC (including ICS)...and you're not a member yet.

There is such a thing as domain knowledge...

Here is what he said about IPSC

"It's a sport, be proud."

Surely this hardly constitutes a strong opinion that anyone should find offensive.

No offense intended Quigley but IPSC Caanda lists all it's members openly on it's website, IPSC International lists the results of all major matches openly on it's website what harm can possibly come of posting the results on the Provincial Websites?

I recognize anyone who wants to know if you own a gun has ready access to names listed but given the above, any attempts to hide names by Provincial Orgs. appears to me to be like shutting the gate after the horse is out. This is particularily true when these same organizations send the results to IPSC INternational knowing that organization will post the results anyway. Ontario apparently has changed their practices since 2006 results aren't listed but 2005 were. This assumes 2006 shoot has taken place.

We haven't changed our policy...we only list the current years results, and they are password protected...

It's due diligence...

If someone has a privacy issue based on their name being on another site...that's not my business. IPSC Ontario is...and we are expected to make a reasonabole effort to protect the privacy of our members...

Listing the top 10 of a level 3 match...is not the same as laying out the names of our 1,000 members...

You don't have to like it...neither do I for that matter...but it is what it is...

Bob

Really? Please show me that list...and don't tell me it's the Regional Classification list...

Once again...that list is maintained by IPSC.org...and is not a comprehensive list of the members of IPSC Canada (or its' sections) It is merely a list of all members in Canada who participate in the International Classification System...it probably reflects less than 20% of Canada's 2,000 or so members

No I understand Ontario's desire to protect the privacy of it's members. Does IPSC Ontario send the results of their Level 111 matches to IPSC INternational? I ask that because the 2005 results are posted on that site but the 2006 aren't, hence my comment regarding a change in policy.

I accept the world we live in however our sport just has to become more mainstream if we are ever going to legitimize handgun ownership in the minds of Canadians. I do however appreciate the issues you are faced with.

The results for all Level 3 matches are sent to the International Organization...they are in charge of sanctioning the matches, assesing the Presidents medals and posting the results (top 10)...

Those results go back to about 1997...and would include any level 3 that was held in Ontario. This is not password protected...and there's nothing I can do about that.

We (IPSC ONtario) post the full results (not just the top 10) for all macthes in Ontario (Level 1, 2 and 3) on the IPSC Ontario website, and that is password protected. These detailed results are for the current year only...but we do have previous years results archived on CD should a member want to look at them...

No. We do not.

You are referring to a link that takes you to IPSC.org's website. IPSC Canada is not involved in this - IPSC - yes, Canadian Sections -maybe - but not IPSC Canada. IPSC Canada does not host any member information on it's website that is not password protected. The web crawlers will not ascertain your personal information through us.

Sean you are splitting hairs. IPSC CANADA lists a direct link to IPSC International that lists the Canadian Shooters. If that isn't "hosting" members names then what is? I am not saying there is anyting wrong with it just that you can hardly say information is available via your site as to who the top shooters in Canada are by name. Frankly I think it is great and I suspect the top shooters in Canada think it is ok too.

I think enough has been said about the privacy issue. how about we get back to the original topic. If you need to continue start a new thread.

I've been tasked with revising our Sections website. I thought I'd check with the people that probably make the most use out of them.

What features do you find most valuable in your section's websites, and what features do you wish you had?

They should protect our privacy...If your not a member why do you need to see our name lists?

My name is on that list, and I'm ok with that.

I own guns, and I know how to use them.

Well.

I don't care who knows.

That's because you have BALLS! Great-- Big --- BALLS!!:D

GD it, you drink too much just one night and everyone sees your balls...

Seriously...that reminds me of a story! (PPCLI full hand point)

I was on the rifle mound at Connaught for the TR championships many many moons ago as a cadet bisley TR shooter - waiting to shoot and trying to clean the corrosion off the 15 year old machine gun ammo DCRA issued as TR ammo back then..and along strolls one of the female shooters on my team - a french cdn lassy and not hard to look at at that. She had just been issued her ammo and she is looking at it and then says to me, in her heavy french accent: "Show me your balls"

##Pregnant pause##

Of course, she was looking at my three clips of rounds which were in my hand - at waist level. Then she looks up and sees my speechless red-faced state and....well there was much embarrassed giggling.

I guess "balles" is slang for bullet. Who knew.

Sorry to hijack, but I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.

:D

There has been some home robberies of legal gun owners in these part lately, & we believe the internet is the tool used to find their victim,

SO, YES, A LITTLE, F#@*@'N PRICAY would be nice.

If you're not involved in that sport, you don't need to know my results, unless I show you them. Not that I can brag about my results lately.

If some one wants to learn more about the sport, great, come out to the club or a match & learn more. Most of us would be happy to go over a few things.

anyways,it's not guys like you,it's the riff raff that can access stuff too easy as it is, let's not make it any easier.
