probably a noob question but...

If you're in BC you will need to have an existing LTATT before the CFO will authorize the transfer of a restricted firearm to you. It's BC's CFO policy not to register restricteds to anyone without a LTATT in place.

So how does one get an LTATT without a restricted firearm register in his/her name?
In Ontario, you cannot get a LTATT without owing at least one restricted, at least the last time I noticed.... Is it the same in BC? And if you don't have an LTATT, how do you get a restricted transferred into your ownwership?

In Quebec they told me when I filled out the ATT forms to write "All my restricted firearms" in the section where you put the serial numbers. So I filled out an ATT form, and sent that with my proof of club membership to the Quebec CFO and they're processing my ATT based on that. I'd assume that in BC it's similar - get a general ATT for "all your restricted firearms", then go get a restricted firearm!

from what i'm aware in BC, you apply for your LTATT for "all restricted in my possession" you are instructed to not include any further details. thus i assume it doesn't matter how many or if you have any restricteds at all.

from what i hear, despite the liberal favor here on the west coast, BC seems to be one of the better provinces to be a gun owner.

@scott: CZ P-07 Duty, i ordered from Frontier as the price was good and i couldn't find any locally.

on that note anyone have an estimate for how long the transfer might take from Saskatchewan to BC?

In BC you get a LTATT simply by applying, with your club membership and RPAL - the club doesn't apply for you, there are no supplementary courses at most clubs, and they don't have to "approve" anything. Additionally, every LTATT I've seen includes every restricted you have a reg cert for (ownership is never mentioned, just possession of the reg cert) every range in the province, gunsmiths and the border with the correct US paperwork. The drawback is - not LTATT, no restricted - it's a fair trade from what I can see, I couldn't stomach being forced through the crappy hoops you guys get to deal with - I really don't need Elmer Fudd having the ability to mess with my shooting paperwork.
