I own a SAM Thunderbolt 1911 chambered in .45ACP and it's the railed model with the forward slide serrations. Out of the box, it functioned fine. None of the problems i'm having right now happened before I installed new parts.
So, the problem i'm having right now is I believe the leaf spring is protruding into the magwell just enough to press up against the back of the seated magazine and keep it from dropping freely. When I depress the mag release, the mag pops out about an inch and then I have to manually extract the magazine. I noticed that if I squeeze the trigger a little bit, the mag will fall free. By squeezing the trigger, the trigger bow pushes the middle spring into the grip just enough to break contact with the magazine.
Could it just be that the new trigger I installed is a little out of spec and allows the middle spring of the leaf spring to protrude further forward than usual or have I installed the spring incorrectly? I have done a function test and everything works. I've tested the trigger while the safety is engaged/disengaged, and i've depressed the trigger during cycling of the slide to ensure the hammer doesn't drop and it has passed all those tests. I just think the trigger bow I installed may be a tiny bit shorter than the stock trigger bow, but I thought i'd ask you guys/gals. I'm taking a tactical pause from the trouble shooting as my patience level has faded, lol.
