hello

some of my friends got problems in hunting this past fall in an area close to yukon border but in BC...

the problem is at first they didnt saw game for 6 days paid in advance for grizzly fees ( not the licence but extra paiement) ...

we contacted GOABC but not guide is not a member so it didnt help us ... then contatect wildlife ministry but answers are not helpful too ... especially on quotas allocated in areas ???!!!!

what can be done or who can help us a little

see you

from my understanding grizzly hunts, even guided ones run about 40% sucess rate.

the outfitter I work for has one grizz tag per year, but won;t even bother hunting it as it's nopt worth the trouble.

sounds like you got skunked. paying for a hunt does not mean you're going to come home with a critter.

so you had a bad day, oh dam , do you think because you PAY for a hunt that the animals are more willing to come running out or maybe the guide has them tied up for you ahead of time, maybe you outta try a game farm and do you realy think your the first person on earth to get skunked on a guided hunt? (*shakes head)

I would suggest more research before booking with an outfitter. No guarantees on service, but references help.

There's no guarantee as there is with 'Death & Taxes'. For the most part, it's a crap shoot. When you decide to 'go for it' you pay your money and take your chances. That's life.:)

:slap: Sorry bud, but that's why it's called hunting and not getting.

Grizzlies aren't the easiest thing to find, except when you don't want to find one.:bangHead:

Your outfitter probably did the best job he could. You should commend him on that. The guides also probably did their best to put the hunters on game, but the fact is, your not going to be garunteed anything, unless your hunting in a fenced reserve, and even then, I'd probably still get skunked.

hello

thanks all for the comments ...

they re not hunting after cows but reals animals we agreed that monster animals were not hidden between each trees ...

they were looking on fair chase hunt so no guarantee was in their minds ...

about grizs too that s true that the work is not easy but the concerns is more that they paid the trophy fees before the hunt and was wondering what were the quotas for the areas .... ????

and the contacts with ministry stated they were not the first to complain about the area and outfitter ....

but again hunting is not easy and i was lonly trying to get some help or advices ....

the problem is certainly they didnt check references at first ...!!!

You have to ask the ministry what the quotas for the individual outfitters are, and I'm not sure they will tell you anyway.

If they paid trophy fees (in addition to the outfitters fees) and didn't get anythign, it shoudl be refunded, unless other arrangements ere made.

The trophy fee should be refunded if no animal was bagged. Other than that, it sounds like the same kind of 6 day big game hunt all of us have had...

Sounds like there is lots more to this. If they paid trophy fees and didn't take an animal, they get a refund.

they asked for the refund but only offer was 10% reduction for coming next fall for a new hunt ...

but hope i ll give more good news soon ....

Sounds like "honest Eddie's used car lot" that doubles as an outfitter. The trophy fee should be refunded, no questions asked. A 10% discount for next season sounds like some form of entrapment. Tell them you'll post their name if they don't cough up the trophy fee. As far as not getting a griz...too bad, so sad that's how it goes.

Sorry about that. On my first post I wasn't aware trophy fees had been paid. Is the payment of trophy fees usually done up front, prior to getting the animal? I haven't been on a guided hunt but I would've thought that was something that would be paid AFTER the animal is obtained. Comments?

I think some outfitters want the trophy fees paid up front to ensure the client has and is willing to pay the extra fee before the trigger is pulled. Those fees should still be fully refundable if no animal is taken.
