Production Optics and Production Optics Light approved as new divisions in IPSC

It does Glock 35's are very common in standard with all makes and models of aftermarket triggers so I'm not seeing a cause for concern.

Fair point.
I don’t like it, but fair point.
I don’t see the poly guns in standard much in my area so I guess I’m half a lap behind...
Still doesn’t change my opinion, it expands it actually.
However, my 15 minutes are up on this topic,
Cheers :)

the 3lb thing for striker fired guns can be achieved with factory parts already, the aftermarket parts thing applies much more to the DA/SA guns than it does to the striker ones, but it does of course apply to them too

Not too sure about that Fang....seems you have that backwards: not many factory parts can get a striker fired gun down to a 3lb trigger whereas alot of DA/SA factory parts can get those down even way below a 3lb trigger....VERY good that they will be allowed to use them come January in PO, PO Light and Production divisions....I'm sure alot of Cdns will be wanting either a Zev for their Glocks or a Grayguns for their Sigs as they do in the US for their striker fired guns with the rule change

You are correct. I have an M&P with an APEX trigger.... it's 2 lbs. 8 oz.

The Apex Competition kit reduced my M&P PRO down to 3lbs. With the M&P replacing the FPB with an Apex part and changing the trigger return spring will get you down to well under 5lbs and with a nice smooth trigger. Going with the full kit including the Apex sear completes the Competition KIt from Apex. Replacing trigger group parts in the Glock and M&P is the fastest way to reduce and smooth out the triggers on both guns. Most of the newer striker guns will either see their springs wear in or you can just replace the trigger return springs to get a lighter trigger pull - PPQ comes to mind.

Letting people install after-market triggers is totally crazy. It's supposed to be "production" division not "standard minor" division.

Shooters have been using tupperware for years without trigger jobs so why screw with it now. PO Light is also crazy.

Not technically standard minor because the guns are still DA/SA or Striker fired. Close though. I do agree once you allow the installation of aftermarket parts such as triggers it's not exactly "production" any more.

With a 3lb trigger pull do you guys that are in the know think a 320 X5 could be a competitive option against a shadow 2?

It will help but the Shadow 2 will still be the best option for PO. Specially when you'll be able to mill the slide and install your optic as low as possible.

3lb trigger in striker fired guns just made aftermarket parts legal. Now what other parts are in those so called production guns.

Jay I recently shot both the Shadow2 and the Sig 320 X5 back to back. In my hands I noticed a significant difference in muzzle rise between the two guns. The X5 for me, did not rise as much as the Shadow2. I should also add when I shoot, the guns I shoot all rise upward under recoil. Some guys I know can shoot and the gun never rises much.

We all know it is the archer not the arrow in any match but I was surprised how little the X5 rose when I shot the gun. I would guess the X5 is going to be a competitive option for most. The winners at the Worlds or at the top of any sport are sponsored shooters and I suspect guys like Vogel can win with about anything they have in their hands be it a Shadow2, Glock or Tanfanglio.

Both guns you ask about cost about the same. For the club shooter I believe it will come down to preference. If I just spent $1,500 on a Shadow2 I suspect I would be inclined to think it was the best option for me. So too, the shooter who dropped about the same amount on a Sig X5.

In the interest of objectivity I just bought an X5. Read into that what you may. The gun, to my surprise is very flat shooting.

Thanks for your insights Bob!

Do you have your magwell removed? If so can you take a measurement from the bottom of the trigger gaurd to the bottom of the grip along the front strap?

The gun, with 10 rd mags does not come with a mag well or at least mine did not. If it did I would have to remove it for SSP Division in IDPA as mag wells are not allowed in that division. Not sure I need a mag well on a double stack gun anyway but that is the rule. I have heard some say there gun did come with a mag well and I presume the extended mags. The 10 rd mags would be difficult to load using a mag well. Not impossible but difficult. The gun would not fit in an IDPA shooting box with a mag well and a magazine with the extended base pad. I do not have access to an IPSC box but I doubt the gun with a mag well and the extended base pads would fit.

Thanks Bob.

Can you measure length along the front of the grip? From trigger guard to bottom of grip.

Thanks Bob.

Can you measure length along the front of the grip? From trigger guard to bottom of grip.
From the undercut on the trigger guard to the bottom of the grip I get 2.33"
From the bottom of the trigger guard to the bottom of the grip 2.291"

PM me your phone number and I will phone you to ensure I am measuring what you want.

IPSC (as an organization) has been making some strange calls lately. PO Light is just another questionable call that makes a few people raise eyebrows.
