Production Optics and Production Optics Light approved as new divisions in IPSC

With most young folks already enamored with their polymer guns and the quality of the guns today (320X5, PPQ Match, XD's, Canick) I would be surprised if the guns don't eventually dominate Production Division if the three pound constant pull is adopted. Certainly they have virtually replaced DA SA guns in the other sport due to the speed in which they can be driven, their light weight and to a lessor extent cost. Time will tell.

We are not seeing a huge wave of interest in Optics in IDPA. There is some but not much. Before I cut up a slide I would ant to be sure Optic Division was where I wanted to be. If you buy a gun pre cut with a rear sight remaining available or a cover piece containing the rear sight eg. PPQ Match you can at least revert back to irons.

Letting people install after-market triggers is totally crazy. It's supposed to be "production" division not "standard minor" division.

Shooters have been using tupperware for years without trigger jobs so why screw with it now. PO Light is also crazy.

That’s bull####.

Cz and tanfoglio have been doing significant modifications to their triggers specifically for IPSC. Why should those modifications be permitted and not allow striker fired guns the same thing? Just because they are done at the factory doesn’t make them any more appropriate for production division.

The proposed rules I think will be an undoubtedly good thing. It’s addresses two of my gripes with production rules that I’ve had for a while now. Not too mention it was virtually impossible to know if someone had modified their trigger to begin with

Now if they could just get rid of the barrel length rule

If USPSA production nationals is any indication of how the new 3lbs all pull trigger rule will go then we arnt going to see much change other then a few less bumps to open.

Can you clarify, my understanding is that there is no min trigger pull for uspsa production

I agree that steel frame guns will still be popular, but at least this levels the field a little bit

That is correct no required trigger pull weight and yet in the top 9 at last year's production nationals 6 tanfos 2 SIG's and 1 Walther... So in a rule set where we seen even more of an advantage given to striker fired guns with no required pull weight steel framed DA/SA guns are still the clear favorite

Ah right. Yes, I agree. But maybe the real question is what guns are the A,B and C class shooters using? I think in USPSA many more people in those classes would be using striker fired guns compared to IPSC, but I really don’t know for sure

According to the equipment survey done at the same match

37% CZ
37% Tango
12% Glock
9% Sig
6% Springfield/Walther/other

I would assume these are rounded numbers

in regards to the TP9SFX trigger pull is NOT the reason, barrell length is.......but it WILL open the door up to those manufacturers models that were slightly less than 5 pound first trigger pull that have a 5" barrell

Wasn't that the point of production -- getting manufacturers to make their guns better? I was also told that the trigger pull test was a way to keep shooters honest.

Sounds like you just want ipsc to use uspsa rules.
