Production Optics Div ???

Does the new division come with a minimum 1st round trigger pull? If not striker fired pistols could be players. Onagoth you shoot in the US. Have you seen any striker fired guns with Optics on them? I know the Division has had a slow start in IDPA in WA State. I suppose it depends on the clubs.

From the rules posted by Sean, 5lb min first shot. No SAO pistols.

Currently ALL the factory optic ready guns (as in milled slide) that are IPSC Production Approved are striker fired....Glock, H&K, Sig, Smith & Wesson, Springfield, and Walther.....even though they must adhere to the min first trigger pull of 5lb and do not gain advantage of DA/SA for further trigger pulls they DO have a huge advantage in several ways with being "factory milled for optic" in that the optic sits much lower to the bore (than those having to use dovetail adapter plates) making them MUCH easier to acquire and never lose the dot, a more secure mounting, and also being approximately the same height to be raised to if you were using them with iron sights (as well as the capability of some still retaining the iron sights to co-witness...although I do not see the need on an optic equipped model as if anything the sights are only a distraction and are unnecessary)......so until such time as some DA/SA manufacturers (mainly CZ or Tanfoglio) come out with optic ready versions the striker fired models do have some advantages (the present IPSC Trial rules ONLY allow the factory milled for optic, you cannot mill your own slide like in USPSA Carry Optics).........it is rumored that possibly Tanfoglio will come first with either a factory milled slide you can purchase OR the fact all their Stock and Stock Extreme models are already on the IPSC Production Approved list for the Optics ready versions (I myself can't wait to purchase a DA/SA optic ready , hopefully our Cdn distributor Freedom Ventures can shed some light on when they will be available for sale)

race1911 - Thanks for the reply. I have a new shoulder on order, once that is installed I may get back into IPSC, at least for club matches. I agree the dovetail mount gets the red dot higher and it is noticeable. I am slowly getting used to the height difference. I plan on going with either the SIG 320 or the Walther Competition pistol for IDPA Optic Division and would use it as a cross over gun. I am now a recreational shooter as opposed to a serious competitor. Either of my choices will allow me to shoot as well as I can. The CZ equipped gun was more of a test bed for me. The Springer mount I have was installed by my 'smith and it is rock solid. No issues there that I have experienced.

I only see PO drawing from Production.
An Open shooter has nothing equipment wise to enter the new division.
A Production shooter has everything except an optic and mount so an easy transition, equipment wise.
To jump from Production to Open today is a massive cost, even Standard is getting stupid expensive so I don’t see many shooters making that jump and how many guys have 5 to 10 grand just floating about to swap divisions anyway? My guess is not many.
Given my eyesight (or lack of it nowadays) I like the idea of this.

Yep I made the switch for under 300$ USD. 400 if you include the followers and extensions for uspsa.

At the World Shoot in France the Tanfoglio booth had Production guns with milled slides and an optic on top for us to drool over. I can't imagine they will be too long getting to market.

Any pics? And here I was looking into a Tanfoglio for Standard Div for next season. :)

Anybody know what kind of guns are used most frequently for USPSA Carry Optics? I'd like to get something that I can easily take to go play south of the border. I'd also like a DA/SA gun to be competitive in IPSC matches but it seems that the 45oz weight restriction of USPSA CO would prevent Shadow 2s and some Tanfos from making the cut...
