Production Optics Div ???

Depends on on what IPSC does with the rules. It'll likely be exactly the same guns and gear as Production but with an optic.

Wonder if a Shadow 2 would be ok ? I would rather have the slide milled for a dot instead of using the rear sight dovetail mount if you can as to get it a bit lower.

So far it seems like the proposal will be to not allow milling unless it was done at the factory, so you'll be stuck with a dovetail mount.

Considering I already shoot this division in USPSA. It really is awesome. Nothing is more fun than running and gunning with 19+ rounds with a red dot.

There was a 10 round mag capacity, but as of Feb 1st went to max 140mm length instead.

I'm currently using my shadow custom with a dovetail mount. Over 1000 rounds and no issues.

If I am stuck with using the dovetail mount for the optic, where is the best place to source one out? Would the Shadow 2 still be ok to use even with it being a bit larger that the SP01?

Looks like you'd have to wait until a dovetail mount comes up for the shadow 2. I'm pretty sure that the slide is machined differently than the sp-01 shadow. I got mine from Springer precision.

Thanks for the info. I don't have either the 1 or 2 as of yet, but was waiting to see which way this goes first.

We're bringing in EGW mounts for C-More RTS2s for LPA dovetails - so they'll fit on our Tanfoglios. EGW has done them for Glock and Novak; someone's bound to do it for CZ too.

USPSA isn't getting the traction they thought they'd get on this division in the US - but that's probably due to the release of PCC at the same time. Many are headed there instead.

I still think PO will be a decent division in IPSC, though - much of our shooting population are getting older eyes and red dots solve that problem.
PO will let the older guys shoot without the huge investment that an Open gun entails (comps, reloading, etc) but it won't replace Open - no production gun with an optic is going to shoot as fast as a real open gun.

CZ mounts are now available from the US. I have my Vortex mounted on my CZ New Edition using the Springer Precision mount. About $45.US IIRC.

Take Care

With rules on Open guns being watered down, lower power factor, heavier bullets it could be replaced with the new guns and optics.

Are any Canadian sections running it?
