I'm thinking the effective range for this gun would be up to around 100 yards, certainly less than the 18.5 barrelled version. I guess we will see.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to bringing this to the range. I've fired a NR Tavor before, so I'll be curious to see if there is a difference due to the barrel length. The user in question "congratulated" me shortly after the sale via PM to tell me about the "better" options I had, then proceed to offer to purchase the barrel if at some later date I decide to go NR with a replacement barrel - if I didn't shoot Norc ammo out if - which I am going to do, on both counts

In his defence he did say his math was off openly and he is welcome to his opinion, though I do agree he shouldn't be constantly trying to "educate" his fellow CGNer's on the follies of this offer in this thread. Really, it just seemed like to me it could have been part of his game to discourage others by making them feel like there was a better offer elsewhere as the price possibly went down to a reasonable enough level that he could swoop in and buy it.

I see Alpha Niner your a member at Silverdale - if you see me there with it don't be shy about giving it go. I'm going to throw an Eotech and a magnifier on it.

Never really gave them ####, I think its great that they did this sale and was a PHENOMINAlL price compared to normal price. I am sure they must have lost thier tail on that one which is unfortunate for them, but great for the dude who got it. The fact of the matter remains that we are being grossly overcharged compared to the americans due to our middle man fee and import fees.

I can see being charged that for a Non-Restricted, comes as part of canadian territory, but for a restricted, why pay more generally than just the currency exchange and import fee and get the gimped restricted. If it does not bother you that is fine then.

I soppose I came off a bit strong, as was kinda cross when I checked back and found my mildly written post deleted without even an explanation or a "hey, we would prefer you dont post this on our forum".

Last time I had a post deleted it was by M14.ca and they politely informed me via PM that they preffered me not to make comment on a certain topic at that time. I respected that and appreciated the way they told me.

From what I can recall there was nothing aggressive or telling buyers to go elsewhere in my delete post. It was borderline more of a suggestion to see if Wanstalls would look into getting them in.

I guess I should say this. Sorry Wanstalls, I can see how you might not appreciate my comments about other variants of the same model your forum, and I would respect that and with-hold further comments and be polite if you would just shoot me a PM and let me know. I am usually mild but sometimes can get aggressive when a catch a jab like that. It kind of eggs me on. You know what I mean?

In a way it was kind of a game. But I was also throwing out just one post letting others know there is other options of damn near the same gun for about the same price.

Personally, if I just bought one on a whim because it was the cheapest tavor I seen, and then found out I had missed surveying my SAR options, then I would be kinda peed off. Just sayin...

If it would have got to $1650 I personally would have bought it without a word more and it would sit in the safe and only get a few rounds at the range in restricted form while waiting for a NR barrel.

I would say 300 yards easily.

The effective range will depend on the distance of your range...cause its the only kind of distance that restricted weapon will see..should have just bought an extra 3.5 inches and had no restrictions. I guess that's why it took so long and $700 off later to sell. Im with onetwentyish on this one.
