Proper transport of an AR ... locked case?

if you bought the same M400 combo deal I did, it comes in a "pelican style"case...which is lockable..just remember to bring your trigger locks to the store...something I always forget... and end up buying more

No I just bought the rifle not the combo. I liked the combo but already have 4 Sig pistols ... :)

Do you happen to know if the rifle as sold individually comes with a case or not?

How many of you are actually being stopped and searched while transporting your restricteds to the range.

Unless you commit a traffic offence they really have no reason to search or stop you.

I have never been pulled over and searched but I still lock in the locked case anyways but I have only ever had my truck searched when hunting but they didn't look at the guns they wanted to see fur and feather, nothing more.

We are our own worst enemies. Still fighting over 'not easily broken into'....really???

Most of my mileage on the road is to and from the range as I work from home, so I got pulled over a few times (mostly RIDE checks). Should have seen the look on the cop's face when I said "I'm going shooting" ;) Grabbed the flashlight, started looking inside the cabin. That's when I told him "my guns are being transported in full compliance with the applicable legislation" (those words) and he waved me through.

Some important phrases that EVERY LAW-ABIDING CITIZEN NEEDS TO LEARN are...
-I do not consent to searches (sometimes they ask why, just tell them that you value your privacy)
-I need to speak to a lawyer (in case you forgot the previous phrase)
-You may NOT enter

With the rise of performance-oriented policing and the resulting focus on improving the metrics instead of keeping the community safe (not every cop or even most cops, but there are enough out there to warrant this warning), the law-abiding citizen needs to be very careful not to be put at risk in case of a personal brain-fart (forgot the trigger lock and the one time it happens, you get pulled over kinda thing) or the police officer misinterpreting the law (you didn't trigger-lock that Remington 700!!!). Law-abiding citizens are exposed to these fishing expeditions more because most criminals already know their rights, while law-abiding citizens are becoming soft targets. If enough law-abiding citizens are aware of their rights, the metric-hunters won't have an incentive to go after them as opposed to going after the real criminal element.

My thoughts exactly.

He used a tool, in this case a pen.
Using the same logic I can remove almost any trigger lock sold on the market, or the padlock on a pelican case using a paperclip in the same amount of time.

Even MORE stupid ...unless it's ME who's more stupid and I'm missing something....howtheHELL did he zip it back up to hide the evidence of tampering? If he was able to use the zipper all along why the pen poke?? What an IDIOT.
And yeah...like you said, he used a TOOL. You could probably use your thumb...or the ZIPPER like he used to re-zip it up after but if you're gonna use a tool might as well use a knife...or bolt cutters and just cut the lock? I suppose more thieves walk around with pens than burglar tools though...waitaminute...no they don't. Honest people do.

My stepson lost the keys for his cool fireproof safe a few weeks ago.
Screwdriver! I couldn't BELIEVE how easily he got into it.
And you don't even NEED a TOOL to get into a small safe like that. You just do like Jared on Storage Wars does all the time. Slam it onto the pavement from about 5' in the air and make sure it lands on one of it's corners.
PRESTO! No tools necessary.
Now try THAT with a soft Samsonite suitcase.

There you go. The soft suitcase is MORE secure than a SAFE!
;-)

EDIT: Oopsies...I didn't mean that the person who posted the video link is an idiot...I meant the guy who broke into the suitcase and then zipped it back up. That's like a burglar going-in through the chimney and then waltzing out the unlocked front door. God.

Yup, you missed it. Zips locked together slide back and forth, no hole, still locked. Make a hole beside the zips with a pen in half second or less. Slide zips past hole, closing it back up. Try it and see if it seems secure to you. The law doesn't say tools required, it says "construction and nature that it cannot readily be broken open or into." Just sayin.

There isn't a non restricted rifle on the market that is comparable in quality, accuracy, and reliability to my AR's or I'd own it.

It's different here out West. You don't have to drive very far to get to crown land where we can shoot our non restricted. I grew up in Montreal and know how hard it is to find places to shoot in the bush.

Sorry, you seem to have mistaken us for ARF.com

I live in a city and can't be bothered to drive hours to go shoot in the bush when there are 5 perfectly good ranges within an hours drive including one in Vermont where we can use standard capacity magazines.
I have several AR-15's which are in the same price range as a Tavor so if I wanted to purchase a NR rifle in that price range I could have done so.

Accuracy, Quality ( reliability), and ergonomics. Out of all the small caliber NR options in Canada I can't find one rifle that has all 3.

The Tavor which has less than stellar ergonomics is a 2-3 MOA rifle at best with a horrible trigger and a poorly located safety.
The T-97 has even worse ergonomics than the Tavor and needs an FTU upgrade.
The Bushmaster ACR DMR is vaporware.
The rifle that I was hoping for was the SCAR17 which unfortunately ended up as a prohib.

If for some reason I want to go shooting in the woods with a semi auto I could still bring an M1A National Match, M305, M1 Garand or an SKS.

Safety? It's right where the safety is on an AR. If you'd said mag release or bolt release, I'd agree with you... which makes me think you meant mag release or bolt release :) Cheers!

I feel this is strictly a matter of opinion and that most hardened AR guys have this opinion if any rifles characteristics don't closely mirror the ARs. Most newbies that I have seen shoot a Tavor and an AR both for the first time (back to back) usually prefer the Tavors ergonomics as they find the controls more intuitive and better balanced. I understand that most AR guys only wish to learn one set of motorskills specific to thier AR, and thats fine. But it does not mean that other rifles necessarily have bad ergos.

is a 2-3 MOA rifle at best
1.75moa at best as tested by mikethebike, and this is with the factory trigger, so I am fairly certain it can be replicated with the Timney and Geissele now here. 2-3moa is bulk federal .223 55gr.

with a horrible trigger
a Geissele will fix this.

and a poorly located safety.
Are you thinking of the T97? The Tavors safety is in the same location as an ARs.
