Proposal - Classifications in FClass at the SPRA - to attract more shooters into LR

I think Jonathan Laitre maybe also looking at this for the PQRA Bob. I even invited him into the folder version classification system so he can see it in action and I know he did except the invite and accessed the system.

I saw the chart and I checked it with the VP today. Since we use excel anyway to enter our numbers and print results during competition, might as well do it so we can record results.

As to giving medals to the 3 "class" of shooter, what we will probably do is that anyone over 4.55 will be in the "A" group, and under 4.54 will be in "B". We do not have enough shooter to give medals in all 3 groups.
 
I too use Excel for match stats and that can be imported into the database. Saves a ton of keystrokes. I have added more data so my old friend Leo shows as a Master now. Added some FCNC scores from 2012 & 2013, and those had some 300-600 scores in them. The more data, the higher you usually average out. What you saw was only based on one year of PQRA scores, 2013.

i agree, we will manage to fill the score in the proper excell sheet wright at the comp day so we dont have to transfer any data. Like Bob mention, we are looking to encourage those who start and dont have all the experience and equipment of some others. A classification system like this, will help to follow YOUR personnal evolution as bullets fly by...
 
Ok, here is what will be done at PQRA this summer.

As I said, we need an Excel spreadsheet anyway to print out results. I modified the original one a bit so I can enter scores as matches are shot during a weekend. Since we do not have that many shooter, I will make 2 groups in FO and 2 groups in FTR. Group A will be Experts at 4.55 and above (including Masters) and group B will be Experts at 4.54 and below, including Sharpshooters.

The groups will be decided the day before an event. During the weekend, regardless of scores, shooters will stay in the designated groups. At the end of the event (usually on Sunday) I will print out the new average of all shooters present. This way they will know their progress.

If we have less than 10 shooters present during an event, we will only give 3 medals, no A or B groups. Also, the 4.55 limit will be played with a bit, I would like to make even groups of shooters.

I'd like to know if other Provincial Rifle Association are doing it ?
 
Over the Victory Day weekend, we implemented classifications for F Class.

We had 1 TR shooter, 10 guys in FTR (2M, 2EX, 1SS, 5 new FTR Greenshots), 17 in FO(8M, 5EX, 1SS, 3Greenshots).
25 shooters Saturday, 24 Sunday, 11 Monday in the rain.
11 medal winners Saturday, 10 medal winners Sunday, 9 medal winners Monday and 12 medals in the grand agg.

As you can see, we are running classifications for F Class now in Saskatchewan at the SPRA.
When you don't have enough shooters in a class, like FTR SS, you move the SS up into EX, etc. and thus, all the FTR shooters ended up in one class, FTR Master class.
There was enough in the FO class to keep the classes separate, except one FO SS was moved up to FO EX.
I keep the Greenshot shooters separated, regardless of their numbers and will classify them at the end of the year, unless they ask to be classified before then.

i agree with the above. We need to focus on "skills" instead of equipment. Good to ear that you guys had a blast at shooting F-Class...
