Prototype Forend with 1913 Rail on DA JW-83 Backpacker

Nice now all it needs is a better stock. If this is just your own project did you at least put your 3d design on a open source website like thingiverse so that other people can enjoy this handguard

Wow ! Now I kinda regret selling mine. Hmm ! Will it be in production soon ? or just your own project.

Started of as just my own, with the intent to produce a one-off full metal (Aluminum) furniture. Of course if sufficient number of people end up showing interest, I could set something up through CGN so I don't end up violating CGN Terms of Use.

Already have a few prototype designs for a buttstock adapter to take an AR buffer tube. Don't really want to show the proof-of-concept adapter (I have currently) as it reduces the OAL to sub 26 inches, and it is super basic, but a lot easier to install than the current wood buttstock.

Currently, I am waiting on deliver of my own 3D printer (estimated ETA January 2015), which will allow me to better refine my designs. So for those interested I'll gladly keep you informed as things develop, hopefully sooner than later.

Cool project but why not just screw or bolt a section of rail to the wooden stock it comes with?
Once I shimmed mine it's been tight and reliable.

Absolutely, that can work too. Many people already do it to a variety of their firearms, especially if people have a more traditional approach to preserving the factory stock/look.

You know how the answer goes, to the question: "why do you do anything?". "Because I can." :) Plus, I can see that you have been around this forum for a while, so you must have see your fair share of "upgrades" and "improvements" - heck, I have seen hole threads on restoring WWII APCs.

Number one, we do it because we enjoy it, otherwise there is no point.

Don't get me wrong I'm stoked on your project and I'm a "tweaker" by nature.... :)

Because I can makes sense to me.

I don't suppose you have a rossi 92 in your stable? I'd love to see someone in Canada develop a light weight but strong railed foreend for the Rossi 92's.

I guess my "why not" comment was not really directed at you but more the average nut with a backpacker who wants to attach a light.

Cool project, small market. ( sounds like that's not your motivation though :) )

Unfortunately, I do not have Rossi Model 92, at this time.

Yah no, ATM market share is not really on my mind; if I'm not having fun there is no point in doing it. :)
