Provincially funded IPSC shoot !!

They also paid for some range improvements as well.
Was it free for the shooter, no.
Did it masively alter the club's fiscal year end, no.
Is the BC Northern Winter Games a Provincially funded amature sport, YES.
Did the club benefit from it, YES.
Did practical shooting in general benifit from it, YES (in our corner of the globe anyway)
Did every competitor who took the time to compete directly input to the betterment of this sport, YES.
My point is if this sport expects to be taken seriously by the mainstream world it takes many little efforts like this everywhere.
A small club with limited money, time and volunteers did it, it makes me wonder what could be possible if other clubs across Canada extended a similar effort in this direction.
Just a thought...:)

$75.00 Entry Fee - $15.00 for the club, their normal club match fee and $60. to the Northern Winter Games. Slavex that is what Liberals in this Province call free from the government. Like the Olympics were going to break even!

Take Care

What's your point?

The important thing is that we took part in an IPSC match as part of an official 'Games'. :dancingbanana:

In my opinion this type of event is good for shooting sports. I gladly paid the games fees and would happily do it again in support of shooting sports and our friends in Prince Rupert. :D

The only thing that surprised me was the people out there who claim to be proponents of the shooting sports but who failed to step up to the plate. :(

Hi John. Thanks for the positive input.

But I am unclear of your last statement.

I guess you had to spend more gas money going home, what with that big a$$ed gold medal and all!:D See you at the ranges.:)

Ok, I sort of see now. I just didn't get how this was connected to the province. So it was a part of the Northern Winter Games, does that mean it's going to be easier to get it into the summer games, or such? I would hope that might be the case as it seems to have gone over well up there.

Summer games, why not? It has to start somewhere small and grow from there.
What city is hosting the next summer games in your province or territory?
Is there a club in the area?
Does the club have an IPSC presence?
If so, go for it. Put a proposal together and approach the organizing body with a plan.
It might just work out.:)

The main thing is the more positive exposure that IPSC receives the better. Especially when it involves those who are "legitimate" competitive sports. These people have no idea what we are about And if it cost's us all a little extra, to educate/involve them, then I am all for it. In the future if any other club in the Northern Zone wishes to pursue this type of match, I will again do my best to help promote it. I am sorry I was unable to attend.

You will happy to know the medal is real GOLD! At least according to my granddaughter..when I told her what it was she promptly bit the edge of it and informed me "yep...it's real!" :D

My comment simply referred to the fact that I was disappointed by the people who didn't show up. I know there were northwest shooters out there who were not working, injured, or otherwise unavailable at the registration cutoff, who didn't take this opportunity to promote the shooting sports.

Summer Games...why not? If someone could make this happen I would do everything I could to be there. :)

Hopefully I will see you guys again at the end of the month. I have a brand new AR I want to try out at your 3gun match :)
