The safety proceedures are the same in both series. It is the CoF that will be different and the scoring. You can shoot a semi-auto in the boltgun series, but you will be at a major disadvantage shooting a boltgun in the Gas Gun Series.

Oh. Well I noticed this. To me it seemed to be different.
From the PRS rule book:
"1.3.3
All transitions and movements during a course of fire must be done with open bolts and an empty chamber. An exception will be made for Semi- Automatic Rifles but only at the discretion and approval of the Match Director. If the MD does permit transitions and movements with a hot rifle, the weapon must be on safe and the shooter must give an audible “Safe” before moving; NO EXCEPTIONS. "
But in the gas gun rulebook:
"1.3.3
All transitions and movements during a course of fire must be made with - the weapon on safe; NO EXCEPTIONS. This rule also applies to transitions and movements with pistols. The 180o rule must be adhered to at all times. No shooter will point their muzzle any more than 90 degrees off of the direction of fire in either direction. Violating the 180o rule is grounds for a DQ."
It seems to me like rifles at a PRS match need to have their actions open while moving but at a gas gun match they just need to be on safe. Maybe because it's a faster paced match or because pistols are often used?
Damn it! Looks like the 1-4x is going in the drawer and a new purchase is in my future...
Adam, you guys put on a hell of a match, the DV crew will attend anything you can dream up!
.I read both the regular PRS and the gas gun PRS rule book and the only rule difference I noticed other than stage design rules was that in regular PRS stages bolts must be open and chambers empty while moving but in gas gun matches this isn't a requirement.
Is that the only thing a shooter has to do differently?
Working on stages for this match this weekend. What distance would most feel comfortable shooting their gas gun to? I was thinking of max 600m for our first go at this. What do you guys think, I want this to be challenging but obtainable for the masses.
