First off, thanks to Greentips for permission to post this.

Secondly, this is NOT a solicitation for orders in any way. This is JUST to gauge interest.

If reloadable 14.5x115 casings were available, with 50 BMG primer pockets, how would you classify your interest:

Price is important, no doubt about that.
If it was reasonable, I'd be all over it.

BTW, what about reloading dies and suitable presses?

Dies don't seem to exist... not a problem for the first loading really, but to reload may be an issue. There are a few places that make custom dies, but cost might become prohibitive. I suspect that 50 bmg presses could work, loaded it's only 2cm longer than a 50 bmg. Would need a shell holder and dies tho.

first i doesn't know what were a PTRS, did some research in google...now i think that i was good when i doesnt know cause now i have a new toy to ask for chrismas......

I would buy the gun if there was ammo available. I don't really like buying stuff I can't use.

Funny thing is, for something like that, I'd be willing to sell a bunch of my collection...

I would need to buy one before I could answer this properly. But if ammo isn't available I don't buy simple as that. If there were 7.92x33 Kurz around I would buy one of those Sturmgewehr-44's as well in a heart beat.

I have had my PTRD for about 2 1/2 years now, and STILL have not fired it.
I did turn a single case out of steel on a lathe a while back, with a 50BMG (CCI 35) primer pocket. I cracked off one primer just to make sure all was good, then sent the case to CGN member MissingSomething so he could do some load developing.

I also made another case at the same time that is an adapter that holds a cut down 28 gauge shell. I plan on making up some blanks for it.

I shoot everything I own, and brass is the only thing that's stopped me from acquiring a PTRD. I'd be in for 10 pieces of brass. The rest of the picture is not a problem. Dies can be had, and for bullets, I'd buy a Custom Mold and cast my own.

Realistically, probably 10% of the people who'd say they'd buy one would. The gun is expensive to buy and very expensive to shoot.

Like Andy, I am not terribly interested in owning an expensive firearm I cannot shoot.
Projectiles could be lathe turned, or cast.
Berdan cases can be reprimed. Given the quantity that a person would be loading, repriming Berdan would be no big deal.
I am unaware of brass 14.5 cases being made. Current production seems to be steel cased exclusively for mg use.
Would it be possible to reload steel cases? Sizing would be far more critical for a "S" than for a "D". For the latter, neck sizing would probably suffice.
Would it be practical to import new, primed steel cases, and the correct primers for them?
Here is another consideration as far as shooting these rifles is concerned - they were not designed, intended, or sighted for long range accuracy.
