Hello all,

Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find either a restricted model Type D PX 4 Storm (Double Action Only), or how I might be able to go about converting one of the single/double action models to a Type D?

I'm not looking for commentary on the positives and negatives of these firearms, just information on where to acquire them.

Thanks

Any chance you know how to go about converting one of the DA/SA types to a DAO? Or point me in the right direction?

Been on the hunt for one myself. No longer manufactured and seldom for sale. I was in contact with Darren at Saskatoon Gunworks who is sponsor there and he did have a Beretta alternative (Type C, I think).
Drop them a line or call. I moved to Winnipeg and do miss dealing with them. One of my co-workers got one of the last Type D's from there, great for practice.

I contacted the Beretta dealer in Canada directly (Stoger Canada) and they said they will NOT import D models to sell to the public even if you are CBSA/LEO. They'll sell you an F model for the same price as the Glock IOP deal but for that price....buy a Glock.

If that's the case, can anyone recommend a handgun that will operate and have a similar feel to the PX4 Type D?

DAO, 10lb trigger pull, etc

Sig Sauer P226 DAK was as close as I got to the PX4 trigger.
Anything hammer-fired with a DAO trigger would suffice though. H&K makes a few LEM pistols with a DAO trigger pull.

The lem hk trigger is very different dao, in fact, it is called combat triger by hk.
There is some confusion around it.

I have made a video explaining da/sa vs lem. Its on youtube.

Bottom line, lem is not what the op wants. I think the dak is a lot closer

Just out of curiosity, but why the interest in DAO? Is it for work?

Yeah. The duty sidearm we use is the PX4 Storm Type D. We are able to use it for practice, but only with the ammunition provided. For additional practice, we would need to purchase our own, which has been extrememly difficult to source.

Realistically, I suppose any of the DA/SA models would work as well, so long as they have the same general features as the Type D (9.8lbs trigger pull in DA mode, spurless hammer)

If the D is still made for the US market you could get a longer barrel installed and get Irunguns to import it. You'd probably end up with a $1500 Beretta though and no one needs that!

I ordered the parts to convert mine to a G type from Italy. Looking for the site now to see if they have the parts to convert to D. Was 3 years ago so I can't remember the website.

From my quick Googling it looks like if you get a C you can convert to a D, F to D doesn't look possible due to some different internals on the slide.

Questar has both the 40 and the 9 canadian length barrels. They also import and it might be easier to have them do the import vs shipping the barrel to irunguns so they can complete the importation of the pistol.

I know folks who purchased similar pistols from Buffalo Gun Center. That might be an option in your in Southern ON
