PX4 vs. Glock??

I am a HUGE Beretta fan (I own nothing but Beretta made handguns) and I still prefer the Glock 17 (or even better the 19) over the PX4. IMHO, Beretta has repeatedly dropped the ball big time with their recent pistol designs.

In the polymer gun arena, Glock owns all others.

I'm tempted to get the PX4 as well but yes Glock is still more KISS and accessories/parts availability is totally abundant.

I prefer shooting the PX4. You're in Burnaby - head out to PoCo and pay DVC Ventures a visit. Shoot both and see which one you like best. Might be best to call ahead though, I don't think they have the PX4 out there all the time (plus it's in 9mm, IIRC)

Try the F (SA/DA) model. All the other models are DAO with a crappy trigger. If you want .45 ACP there's the special duty - comes in a special pelican case. Very cool.

If you can afford the Kanadian PX4 price then you can afford H&K. Forget about the "Glocknation" fan club. Glock is reliable and probably a good basic pistol for a cop but I believe Glock has saturated the law enforcement market by selling at incredibly low prices in order to feed the hysteria and popularity.
I owned a Glock and found it to be very cheap feeling and looking.

If You are not focused on "looking" and "feeling", but functioning instead, just buy yourself a Glock and save the money for the ammo.
The best one to start with is 17.
Later on You may want to move up with some bigger caliber, but for the practice this is your best option.

yeah, the 95 Corolla was a very good "functioning" car and reliable but it was not fun to drive and looked like crap. The H&K is the Lexus to the Glock's Toyota.

Here's your winner..

Here is your classic "looks and feel are more important than function" crowd.

Looking "cool" with a firearm that "feels cool" doesn't win a match or a gunfight.

I went PX4 9mm. It just felt better and shot better for me and was nicer as a lefty. I've tried a few Glock models since and I wouldn't change my decision but I'd might had I tried a Sig or two first.

So you're saying a Glock functions better than the H&K? And what "gunfight" are you talking about? How many people in Canada get into gunfights with their pistols?

Good for you! Whatever felt best in your hands is what you should buy! Personally, I liked the H&K P2000 better than all of the Berettas (PX4 included) and Glocks I've shot. Even the H&K USP45 didn't feel right. Guns like people have personality - so if there's a match, it is more important than all the other factors that may be explained logically.

The only problem with this great looking, wonderful "driving" "Lexus" is that it may not stop when You will hit the brakes...so for the price, thank You, but I will keep with my old, crappy looking Toyota.

Now, You can enjoy the "look" as long as You want, just don't pretend that the "beauty" factor has any importance if You are looking for reliable gun.

I wouldn't necessarily say functions better. The Glock has some great attributes that the HK or Beretta do not. One consistent trigger pull for one, no external safety to manipulate before, during, or after you shoot. Fewer parts/pieces, cheaper, greater availability of parts and service, and a better track record.

As for gunfights. I doubt many of us will ever come close to participating in one. That being the said, there are those who understand that a service pistol(or rifle) is still a tool designed for the protection of life. Regardless wether or not you see your firearms as a defensive tool. The fact remains, if your pistol is one that is well suited for life saving duty and is trusted by those that carry one in such circumstances. You can rest assured that you will enjoy many years/rounds of trouble free shooting. The same features and/or attributes that make a firearm well suited for professional work are also suitable and desirable for casual work.
