The love for the Colt Python these days is called the Rick Grimes Fever... Lol

Yeah, the Python is deadly piece of kit when ole Rick pops a 'walker' in the melon....

Although I agree that Pythons are special, and mine are safe queens, it does seem odd that they are creeping towards Korth territory pricewise in the resale market.

Ya Korth is pretty much the top. I really nice one was just listed on ee for 5k and sold very quickly. The next batch coming to Wanstalls in the spring (?) will be around 8-10k in understand.

I'm really surprised he didn't know what to call the cylinder release latch but what is most surprising is he doesn't talk about what most would consider the best and most important feature that gave the Python it's reputation for great accuracy and that is the cylinder lock up.

Ya he clearly doesn't know what he is talking about lol ;-)

As far as accuracy, he did shoot them all (rapid fire and at 50 yds) so I think he covered that.

Has this had any effect on the value of the old classic Smith & Wesson 357 magnum, or the 27-2?

You could buy 2 or 3 in the US and import them through IRG for what the EE is asking for one of them.....jesus lol
If people are paying that, the old "fool and his money are soon parted" comes to mind.

I sold a 1958 Gibson Flying V in 2003 for $98K usd. I could sell the same guitar for today for $400K usd easy.
There are people who collect wine and pay $20K a bottle and never drink the stuff

The climb of the snake guns is far from over.

Ugh...and I sold a 69 V many years ago, just because I didn't like the way it played. I was glad to be rid of it for a thousand bucks.
(I think I'm going to be sick.)

I confess I had a good look at US Python prices thinking just that but they are up there too especially factoring in exchange, import fees, duty etc.

Ok I love the Python. Nickle, stainless, especially blue but in the EE lately, WTF? $4000? $6500? If people are actually paying these prices I guess it's true that there's one born every minute.....

Get a Ruger Match Champion GP100 and put in a bit lighter spring and a bit of polishing...or get a Smith worked over by their Custom Shop and do a bit of fine polishing on that, and you'll have an equally fine revolver...for a lot less money...and one that's still in production.

It's no different than the sales of de-activated weapons. Do I think it's ridiculous to ask $6000 so I can have a gun like Rick does? Yes. But, they're worth whatever someone's willing to pay.

Best post of the thread.

Do you think owning a piece of paper that cost you $20K saying you have 100 shares in a company thats stock is priced at 50 or more times its earnings is worth it?
It is as long as there is someone else who will buy it from you! Or better yet!!! Is a rookie Mickey mantle card really worth thousands of dollars?? At least in the collectables market you have a true free and open market. Supply and demand

Is this worth $95K?? ..............

Stop thinking gun and start thinking collectable

On the other hand if you have 12-x you can pick up a snub Python for a song. So now you can thank your government for a gift ; )
