.
If you keep looking, you will find several pictures of PRINCESS Elizabeth shooting a Lee Enfield. I am not sure if you could find one of QUEEN Elizabeth shooting one, but as for Shotguns, she does not have all those Labrador Retrievers around for nothing. She was actually quite a good shot.

The pictures were not simply for PR; Her Majesty was a superb shot with the Number 4, regularly turned out at Bisley for the Commonwealth matches. Win on of the top matches there and you got your name on a trophy, small cash prize.... and a personal LETTER from her in her own writing. Bill Brown had one on the wall in his study.

There exists also a very good photo of her during the War, with Princess Margaret Rose; both are carrying Number 4s.

Back in the day, Princess Elizabeth stated in an interview that her favourite song was “Tennessee” Ernie Ford's The Shotgun Boogie.

As far as I know (I'm not sure she has ever picked a new one), it must *still* be her favourite.

I am not a big fan of the royal's but a lot of our leaders and politicians could sure use some of the experiences that the Queen and her family have done in their lives.

Our current Queen is made from what my Mom ( a British WWII veteran ) would call "sterner stuff" than most. If respect is earned, not demanded, then in my books, she has earned it by carrying her mantle with dignity and honour. Given the populist approach of the new crop of monarchs, she may well be our last "great" Queen.

The Queen has been through more than most of us can dream about. WWII was not a 2 hr. movie. The horror of constant bombing, then the rockets, took their toll of thousands of good people in England. Don't ever think for a moment that she has forgotten that. She is a real lady, strong and intelligent. She has always been one of my heroes. I saw her in the next little town in 1955 (I think it was). She is the close to the same age as my English-born mother. Maybe that has something to do with my regard for the Queen.
