Questars new 10 rnd .223 ar15 mags....

That's strange...Here's a comparison of one of my ultra-reliable TAPCO, Inc 5/30 round mags on the left and one of my Questar 10rnd mags on the right, both front and rear views. As you can see, there's no effective difference in round height vs mag body/feed lips between the two mags.

My springs are weak, and not near strong enough to hold in my 400 round old lower. Hopefully with more rounds through it and stronger springs it will work.

Getting annoying when I don't count my shots and I am expecting one more and all I get is a click...

Just tested 40 rounds through 4 of the new mags. I had one stoppage, a round that got bent and caught while feeding. It may have been a result of not seating the mag properly. The other 39 fed well, no stoppages.

Bolt held back after firing most of the time. Looks good so far! If these mags hold up, I'll buy four more.

I just ran 100 rds through 3 of the new RRA 10 rder mags with Tactipul floor plates. All 3 held 10 rds, inserted fully loaded with the bolt forward, bolt locked back on the last rd and all dropped free. Not one problem. Mine are good to go.

Man, am I a happy camper.

Cheers,

O'Kelly's Boys

I got 4 that do not feed very well and will not hold the bolt open at all, these springs seem very very weak, just pushing with my finger I feel not even half the resistance of my 5/30 rounders.

Has anyone got some regular springs and cut them down?

I disassembled all 6 of my LAR-15 mags this morning to reinstall the original metal bases, and noticed something that I missed when I first disassembled them to install Magpul Ranger plates.
One of the mags' followers seemed a bit 'lazy' to return to the top of the mag when depressed, and I assumed that was because of the "weak spring" issue. What was actually causing it was the front leg of the follower, which had been poorly molded....it was quite deformed along the front and was binding near the top of its travel in the mag body. A bit of careful work with a fine file and some fine emery paper and all's well.
Anyhow...it might be worth checking those mags with the "weak springs" to ensure that you don't have the same problem with the follower.
The other 5 mags are just fine. :)

Aren't these mags illegal?

:D Kidding, kidding...

Just wanted to address this one post and common misconception re rounds in a gun while hunting in Ont.

I believe most (if not all) provinces have a rule where you're not allowed more than 5 shot magazines in all centre-fire rifles when hunting. This is definitely the case in Ontario.

From the 2007 Hunting Regulations Summary

You must plug a semi-automatic or repeating shotgun so
that it will not hold more than a total of three shells in the
chamber and magazine combined. Under the Criminal Code
of Canada you cannot possess any clip/magazine that holds
more than five shots for a semi-automatic centre fire rifle
unless that clip/magazine has been specifically exempted
pursuant to the Firearms Regulations.

There is no mention of a rifle being limited to 5. It simply states (erroneously) how the Criminal Code regs are in force.

Here is the section (19) in the Act that deals with firearms. It only mentions shotguns specifically (3 rnd limit). http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/DBLaws/Statutes/English/97f41_e.htm#BK19

I couldn't find anything in the act requiring 5 rnds max. Have a look though, I've been wrong before (hard to believe, I know  )
http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/DBLaws/Statutes/English/97f41_e.htm

I believe the older regs (probably pre C-68) may have actually stated specifically the mag restictions. I was always under the impression the 5 rnd rule applied and this was probably the reason. Alot of the guys I hunt with seem to think this also applies to enfield mags to. Not so.

I would certainly have the info Questar has posted, printed and on hand while hunting in Ont. Ranger Rick may not be in the loop ;) .

I am running into the same problem with mine , They feed great but the spring seems a little week and wont get the bolt to catch after the 10th round ????? might have to do some tweeking

We just finished packaging up (going out tomorrow) the replacement springs for all those individuals who had sent us their name, address and a copy of their purchase receipt for the mags they had (with short springs). If you sent that info to us we forwarded it on to C-Products and they sent us replacements for you.

If you didn't notify us, or didn't send the required information, then you obviously weren't on the list.

Good to hear, I am eager to get my new springs. None of them lock back on an open bolt and I would buy a lot more if I could make mine work perfectly.

I got my 4 from CRAFM and no response from those guys about new springs, can I just buy some and some of those tactipuls as the magpul ranger plates do not allow 10rds either.

Some of the first shipment of magazines had "short" springs installed by C-Products in error... we put several postings out about this.

Anyone who got these short springs and their mags don't hold the bolt open when empty can send us an e-mail, along with copy of your purchase receipt showing date and quantity purchased. Also include your mailing address, e-mail and phone number.

We will get the required spring replacements for you and send them out no charge.

E-mail info to: Sales@Questar.ca

The Tacpulls are available separately as "3-Paks" for $16.99 and can be ordered on-line at: http://questar.ca/orderform.htm

when is the next order coming for the 9mm and 223?

Orders for .223/5.56 arriving once a month... we're shipping backorders as fast as possible and hope to be all caught up by middle or end of June.

The 9mm magazines are still 30 to 60 days away from what I was last told.

I just received 5 of these beauties today complete with "tacpull" floorplates.
I was pleasantly surprised to see they also had Magpul followers (I guess I wasn't paying attention, but I was expecting the standard green followers.)

Anyway, tested all 5 as best I could here at home and they all appear to be top quality and function as designed.

I am really happy about these.
Thanks Mark!!
