Question about a Prohib revolver UPDATE!

At least your family has the ability to own ANY of these. I wasnt 10 when the firearms act came into affect, and my parents/grandparents were not gun people so I am screwed out of ever owning these guns...
You could start hitting on the old ladies at your gun club and see how it goes... the law permits you to inherit pre-'46 prohibs from your spouse.

After some negotiation and a loooong wait with the CFO, finally got the 547 transferred!
Here are some S&W K framed prohib ####! The gun came with Tyler T-grips which were kinda fugly so I switched it out for some nice S&W round butt target grips that I had lying around.

The one with the Pachmayr rubber grips is my old MagNaPorted M13.

See the difference in size between the .357 and 9mm rounds. And the 9mm HKS speedloaders are puny!

Notice the guns have similar length cylinders. The 9mm has a long gap to jump. Not sure about accuracy yet. Still awaiting reg papers.

I was waiting for that pair to make an appearance. Very nice! I agree those grips are the perfect complement on that gun. Looking forward to range impressions.

That's an unusual and desirable prohib, worth the $700. - dan

x2, assuming that you know that you'll be contented with it's "used" condition. (If - in the end - you aren't happy with the condition, no price could ever be low enough.)

Please post pics when you get a chance.

Wow Still Alive, that is just awesome looking!!! The wife says if you need a woman's opinion on it, she would be happy to give it a go :) nice find!!

Still Alive brought this out today to play with! Sweet gun for sure, and he shot it very well, lol, it was the first time I had shot a revolver, so a great experience, however, my wife and best buddy both shot it better than me, so I will stick to semi's :)
Thanks for letting everyone play with your new revolver SA, but we will have to work hard to match your groups :)
This is the first two groups SA shot with it, left side is double action only, right side is single action only, very nice groups for first time out Still Alive! Distance was about 15 ft

Thanks for posting the pic edgy.
Shooting impressions..
The gun is well balanced with the 3" HB and the target grips. Does not feel nose heavy.
The DA trigger is gritty and a bit rough but not all the time. You can't feel the release point in DA so every shot surprises you. The SA trigger pull is super light. Maybe 2-3lbs?
The empties get harder to empty after 30 rounds. They seem to stick more in the cylinder.
Edgy, trailskinpat and some others put 50 rds through it today. Load was CRS 124gr 9mm.

The above pic showed my first 12 shots. We were setting up for a match today so it was a very short shooting impression for me.

We paint the front sight of our shooters here in Calgary. The best for us old blind guys is a base coat of white model paint and then a top coat of nice bright yellow. Model paint is cheap, and two vials last most of your life.

$700 for a 3" 547 is a steal. All the guys saying it's worth any less don't own one. It's one of my favorite configurations, I love mine.

Way back when RCMP members used to tell us stuff, I was told there were about 200 model 547 revolvers in Canada, and most of those were the 4" square butt model. I have seen some interesting markings on some of these, since a few of these were actually issued in Palestine.
