There are a couple airguns I would like to purchase from the US. They both shoot under 495 fps. Advertised as 360fps. Do you need export stuff for airguns or are they exempt from the rules that regular guns have to go through?

What models?

I had to call CFC to see if the Daystate Air Wolf MCT was allowed into Canada, thinking of ordering one from the US. No luck... any Daystate that has a shrouded and baffled barrel is prohibited in Canada. No wonder no one in Canada sells them... not yet at least waiting to hear back from AirgunSource ;)

Well the fake suppressor from the states is actually a longer barrel as well to give it a little more velocity. Since the thing is only 360 FPS stock would like to get it up to 450ish.

buying 495 fps + in US

here's another queston:

What if you buy a 495+ in the US, how do you register it in Canada when a Pal is required to purchase in Canada

Interesting looking rifle. Make sure you do a review if you happen to get one.

Not going to happen; unless you buy it from a private seller and it doesn't get opened at customs. Air guns are considered firearms regardless of the fps. I already tried from archer air guns http://www.archerairguns.com/Articles.asp?ID=138

Why would you spout that. Air Guns are only considered firearms under the firearms act when their muzzle velocity is above 500 fps. Under the criminal code they are considered a firearm if they are used as one ie. robbery or threatening. You can import any airgun under 500 and anything over has to follow the firearms act.

Your best bet is to go to the pyramid air website. See if they have what you are looking for, if so, contact airgunsource or go to their website (they are located in peterborough) as they can import whatever you see on the pyramid air website.

Mrsmitty - What pistols/rifles are you looking at?

I just bought a baikal from airgunsource out of Peterborough. While the purchase cost out of the US is lower, I figured out that by the time I pay duty and extra shipping it was cheaper to buy from airgunsource.com I think that you will come to the same conclusion as well. I ordered on Friday and received it on Monday! Had a minor problem and they helped me right away. They are sending extra seals that I had a small problem with today. They are very knowledgeable, courteous, fast and professional. Great prices too. Free shipping over I believe $500, but don't quote me on that. Shipping wouldn't cost much anyway.

I have heard of airguns getting held up or not getting through the border, regardless of the fact that they are not firearms. Most get through, but some don't!

The BATF does not consider a airgun and firearm.I talked with them at length. If you get the serial # and barrel measurements you can preregister it before entering Canada and have a # for the border guys. They may let you take it from there or keep it ,check it and mail it to you in a couple weeks................Harold this is for over 500 fps guns under take it with you no paperwork

I know a fellow who imports from the states and he has had many headaches dealing with the laws and regulations etc.

Its easier to try to find it here in Canada, less waiting time and less rubbish to deal with.

pyramidair offers worldwide shipping, and yes that includes Canada (must be under 500 fps) RCMP/customs maintain a list of non firearm air guns

Why wait when you can buy it today in Canada and get it by the end of the week. Save on shipping costs and boarder wait time.

If its under 500fps we should have it in one of our stores: D&L, airgunsource, specialty shooting sports etc.
