Question about Noveske reliability

WOW! With help like yours Im sure you`ll get to the bottom of it..... ;)

Alot of AR woes can be fixed with a good proper greasing of the bolt and carrier.

With the amount of info he gave when i replied there is not much to go on...and your suggestion is for him to add oil, I'm sure he has tried that by now...

He should just send it to Questar and get it fixed...

See again you dont get it, I said grease. Anyone that JUST oils a AR15 and expects it to run all day is gonna have problems.

Did you edit that?

Well okay fair enough, either way there are many potential solutions here as mentioned by Questar..

Noveske and BCM is the new lmt, colt. They have just as much respect in the U.S by folks who shoot more in a month than most up here do in a lifetime. Plus the noveske N4 barrel will be more accurate.

You don't know the AR-15 too well neither.

LMT's are not designed to run on all ammo commercially available, even the most underpowered, they are mil-spec, and have a mil-spec gas port, unlike Shrubmaster and other low quality mfgs who drill their gas port larger than the moon so their rifles run on all commercially available ammo (that makes for a VERY overgassed AR when you run quality ammo in it, and that is just wrong in every way). Short gas systems like the 10.5" will be picky when you shoot low quality ammo through it.

Saying LMT's are not to be trusted is silly.

Sure I'll tell you what I've been experiencing. It's very ammo picky. I've tried different buffers, but it never seems to run 100% and lock back on an empty mag. It's a 10.5" LMT upper. I haven't been to the range in a long time, and will let you know how it goes when I do. I changed the gas rings as well to see if it will help.

If you use RRA 10 rd LAR mags you will have issues .. they fail to hold the bolt open on empty about half of the time in all 3 of my ARs and tavor and i have got stovepipes and feed issues with them before.. they are really bad mags but worth the extra 5 rounds .. with any other decent mags my ARs run 100%... when semi auto firearms have problems 95% of the time its the Magazine causing it ..

Every mag I have runs flawless in my tavor. And my AR was doing this with any mag I tried, including pmags.

Have you tried that "upper" on a different lower to confirm that the problem is in fact with the upper and not somehow related to the lower half?

Have you tried that "lower" and mags with a different upper half to confirm that the lower and the mags don't exhibit any issues when used with a different upper half?

Most people have access to another AR (a friends or someone at the range) and can perform this simple upper/lower swap to confirm whether the problem follows the upper... follows the lower or somehow dissappears entirely.

These are standard methods used to isolate where issues are originating and confirm problem areas. Eliminating components and assemblies by confirming they work correctly, we isolate what component or assembly is NOT working and thus locate and fix the problem.

PS... I keep forgetting that this THREAD was started originally to discuss Noveske product and not to resolve an issue with someone's non-Noveske upper... I do apologize. If there are any other questions about the upper issue mentioned herein please contact me by email or start a separate thread for that purpose ;)
