Question: Best .22lr for semi

All semi automatic rifles and handguns seem to have their own best preferences. It's easy to find something that works (unless there's an ammo drought) but to know what's best in a given gun takes some trials, and for accuracy testing a lot of bench rest type shooting.

This works best with my STG44. Never failed.
I suspect that any ammo with solid bullets would work.
I have tried hollow point ammo of three different brands. That was a complete disaster.

I'm not sure what happened to Automatch or if the last box I bought was just a bad batch. I got really good results from this budget ammo except a recent buy where the ammo is dirty literally dusty looking and shoots but is way less accurate. I probably won't buy it again. I shot a good 5 boxes of the stuff before but wow did the last box I opened blow chunks. Still no FTF but performance was pretty low. The rounds were not even close to shiny like in the picture above.... roll it in muddy water a bit than shake it and then sit in a dusty factory then that would be about it.

** if batches of 22lr are suddenly way cheaper than expected try to have s look at the rounds before you buy a lot of it. Could be factory seconds, or stuff that sat and got dirty that was sold as clearance. The last automatch box I bought was only $20 so likely some kind of issue where it was sold cheap. Still if aiming at critters you could probably do well with a semi and 3 shots if they moved but would have trouble if they stayed still...lol
