Quick question for some CZ 452 owners out there ... If you install scope rings on the 11mm dovetail, and then remove the rings/scope later on, will there be marks left on the receiver where the rings were installed? Thanks!

I added a DIP rail to my 452 Varmint, because it has no sights, I don't plan to ever take it off.
I really dislike marking up my gear. I would install / uninstall the rings carefully, but not be shy about using the rifle.
They are meant to be enjoyed after all.
Have a great day.

^ the DIP rail will also leave nice screw marks on the top of the rail.

I got a tip on the big rimfire forum about this.
I put a piece of #6 or #7 lead shot in each of the holes in the DIP rail.
The shot is much softer than the set screws, this should minimize damage from the rail installation.

There shouldn't be any marks on the rifle from rings mounted properly.

The mount/rings I use look like aluminum and I don’t notice any marks. With unaided eyes. A magnifying glass might reveal some bluing loss, but I don’t feel the dovetail has ever been nicked. I’ve replaced and changed rings and scopes a few times in 15 years.

I am also very careful when installing and aligning the mounts. Take care sliding or easing them into position. I also locktite and tighten the screws very well to prevent them from sliding due to recoil.

Exercise some care and enjoy shooting with scope. It’s a rifle meant to be used.

I'm waiting to scope my 452 Varmint 17HMR later this month and am leaning toward EGW Picattaney rail part # 80902 3/8" size
It attaches via a clamping system from opposing sides versus screws that press downward as designed on the weaver rails.
The downfall of the EGW rail that I've described retails for $125. which is costly for a rimfire.
The other downfall is that the design is high and therefore elevates the scope making for potential poor cheek-stock weld postioning.
Anybody have knowledge of this item?

I have plenty of CZ / Brno rimfires and after upgrading scopes several times on each rifle through the years there is no marks whatsoever left on any dovetail. If you use good quality rings and mount them properly it’s a non issue. It would have to take very unevenly machined rings and torqued way too tight to score the dovetails.

This is what I was looking for! Thanks!

I have installed and removed mine a couple times with Leapold CZ rings with no ill effects. Now I have a weaver style rail installed, but have not removed it yet. I intend to swap off the scope often, so time will tell about long term maring. Kinda just accepting it is going to look well used in a couple years.

Get the EGW picatinny rail and your receiver will be nice and pretty looking if you ever take it off down the road. The dip rail has set screws going down against the top of the receiver which is a bit irritating

The EGW rail system is way nicer cause it slides on the dovetail and clamps on that way, albeit a bit high. The nice thing about the DIP rail is how low it sits compared to the EGW. I’ve had both and am using the DIP now cause it’s lower. Although maybe I’ll revisit the EGW now that I think about it..
