Please share any experience that you have had using a 350 rem mag on animals.
I am looking for hunting hunting stories including animal defense ones.

Thanks

I had purchased a TC Encore and had ordered a custom barrel from the states in the 350 Rem. Mag. I only used it for one season and taken a nice buck at under 100 yards. It did the job with no problem. I had also reloaded at the time and remembered I very much liked the cartridge as it had a nice wide neck and short brass making it was easy to see if the cartridge was clean when reloading. At the time I had also had purchased a Ruger in the 350 Rem. Mag. and hadn't even shot it before selling it. This going back around 2004 when this cartridge was revived and a hot ticket item. It has now dropped from sight and don't hear to much about it anymore from what I can see.

I run a number of 35s. I used to own a 350 REM Mag in a Remington 673. Was a very nice gun but does nothing that my 35 Whelen cannot do, so I kept the Whelen. I like the extra round that the magazine can hold with the non magnum case and the ability to load rounds further out with the Whelen.

For extra ummph…. I built a 35 WSM which my main load is a Barnes 200gr TTSX at 3000fps with reloader 17.

I have killed numerous elk, deer and moose with a combination of the above calibers and with a sturdy Barnes bullet, I’ve never recovered a bullet all the way out the 415 yards (my brother borrowed my 35 WSM on his elk).

Big entry holes and big exits! I like the extra power it provides.

My experince is with the ballistically similar 35 Whelen. Decent moderate range thumper, not as all round useful as I’d hoped it would be. Long range isn’t doing it any favours but theres plenty of hunting where even 300 yards might as well be on the other side of he moon.

Got .358 Win, .35 Whelen & .350 Rem Mag. Dropped Moose, Elk & Deer with 250gr Core-Lokt, 250gr Grand Slam, 250gr X, 250gr Swift & 310gr Woodleigh. Pretty good performance to date never had to track anything very far. Highest muzzle speeds with my .350 RM.

I've used the .350 Rem Mag for decades... it is a really great hunting cartridge. I have taken many bears with various .350 Rem Mag's and carried one for years when guiding for both blacks and grizzlies. I have also taken a few moose, one bull at 300 yards. It punches above the numbers in my experience. I mostly shoot it with 250 grain Partitions over a full case of W748.

^^ Agree ^^ .... I used to own a few 35cals a while back but never did go for the 350RM. The list of 35Remington, 358Win, 35Whelen and 358NM all came and went. Of the bunch, I would take the 35Whelen over all of them. Brass was easy when using 30-06 and I too liked the longer action and extra cartridge.

I found with my 350 built on a Mauser, I could set the bullets further out, which in turn gave me a little more case capacity. My 350 ended up slightly faster than my 35 Whelen. Neither is as powerful as the 358 Magnums (Norma Magnum ad STA), but they are definitely easier on the shoulder. - dan

Reloading brass or ammo is rare. I have a supply of Nosler & Bertram .350 RM brass and got a Redding forming die to make .350 RM brass from .338 WM brass. Also got a supply of HSM .350 RM ammo.

Looks like this outfit has .350 RM brass for sale: https://beaksandbrass.ca/store/product/p_3171694
Easy to make brass from any of the common belted magnum cases. - dan

I owned a M700 Classic for a while but sold it after I shot it a Bit . I was going to build one on a M7 action BUT decided against it because of recoil as I like LIGHT RIFLES and the 350 Remmy is a bit violent with top loads and 225 - 250 gr bullets . JMO RJ

For my rifle unfired Hornady .338 WM brass works best to form .350 RM brass no neck turning required. No worries keeping my rifle fed.

For plinking I load plated 180gr 38 Super bullets (~15 cents ea.) with a light charge of Herco. Other 38 caliber (0.357" dia.) pistol bullets also work. Cheap target shooting.

I would bet those would make good grouse killin rounds .
Prolly put the hurt on a coyote if that opportunity arose as well.
I look forward to range reports and feild reports when the time comes.
