Question on a Colt 1911 45acp

Anyone else got a problem with post number 18, after reading post number 15?

I'll bite?

I need a ATT to take the Colt from the store to Home.
Once I have the certificate of ownership or whatever they call it the tan paper.
I can then use my home to range ATT

While not having the tan paper that takes a few weeks or months, I will have the transfer of sale and the att from the store to home.

Your point is the sale transfer is not enough to prove ownership?
Where as my club ATT covers me 24 hrs day to any certified range in Ontario and any guns registered to me.

Considering I asked the same question some time back to guys that shoot at my club one just retired RCMP and one current OPP
said as long as you can prove you own it and the serial number is register against you and you have a valid ATT your good to go.
The transfer delay is for CEPIC to catch up.

Right now as it stands the Colt is regirested to me but showing at the store waiting for the ATT to bring it home which will have a one way one month window 9 to 7 time frame.

What am I missing???or What Paper rule I'm I breaking?

Wait a few weeks to months for the tan paper?

I waited six months for my 223 rifle plus when I got it I had some poor guys from Ottawa with it.

Then favorite is the one I got that was so faint I couldn't read it never did figure that one out.
Maybe that was a extra like the extra AAT I got in the mail.

I mean they have to work with what they have.

So let me know what possible trouble I could be getting into.:bangHead:

Sorry about the lack of info but,
What is a new Colt 1911 in brushed stainless single stack worth???

No visible extras. Could find a colt web sight to get a model number.

Gun shop was asking $1500 after the only a few made it into Canada dance from what I have been told he might consider himself a bit of a fox.

The reason I ask is cause I got a used pistol off him that is a dud a $900 dud.
and I doubt if I'll get a refund but he might swap the guns out.

Or am I just throwing good money after bad and keep the $900 dud as a junk gun and never go back.

thx

Above is the COLT website.

Here is the EPPS website with some COLTs for sale.

A lot of people, myself included, think COLT makes the best 1911 and has since 1911.
If its not a COLT its just a COPY!!

model # 05070x is the closest the difference might be the grips or I might be wrong about the grips

The price seems ball park the closest was priced $200 more but might be more gun?

I don't know, I don't know anything about Colt's but seems like I'll be learning first hand.

Well got it home today will not have a chance to shoot it til maybe Monday.
It is a Gold Cup as per enclosed instructions and their top model and is the same as the one they where asking $1700 usd for on the auction site, so I might have not done so bad.
Cleaned it and chambered some ammo through it nice feed path.
Now it came with as per instructions 2 mags and two springs.
The green shorter spring and 7 round mag is for Light loads and semi wad cutters.
The plain longer spring is for full pressure loads and the 8 round mag is for ball type rounds full loads.
Ok I get the lighter spring thing since I reload I'm all over that, but the mags.

They seem the same to me spring tension wise just the 7 round one seems to have a built in stop limiting it to 7, not that I have taken it apart yet.

Now I get that a mag needs more tension when firing higher loads, but a mag spring is at it's weakest when stripping the last round. With one round I can't tell the difference. There is a big difference between the 2 return springs thou.
I will not know until I break in the gun, but the idea is to make power factor which puts me on the other side of light target loads. So I'm wondering if I can use the 7 round mags and what would be the down side if any, other than reloading more often?

thx
