Question on winter camo shell covering?

I have a camo shell that I use when I am wearing non-camo clothing, it's two sizes above what I normally wear, to fit over my biggest overalls. It's quite loose with other stuff, but It works well, and the extra fabric doesn't bother me. It's a really thin coat, but it's surprising how much extra warmth it gives.

I've been trying to buy white camo however I've found my xxl tyvec painters suits work so well. Just rip the blue sticker off. Grey or brown spray paint can modify it to suit any surrounding. Cheap effective and blood stains can be covered with krylon

Just a hole cut in an old sheet and worn "poncho" style will work as good as any storebought ...it kind of flows out in a non-descript form and as Bryben says add some paint or tape strips to add a bit of "background' contrast and your set...My friends and I have used this numerous times and have discovered that if you are moving it doesn't mater what you have on,everyone and everything in the area will spot you...but if you stay still with even the most rudimentary outfit you will "disappear"...its not how good you look in your outfit...its how you don't look in it.

I have also used a sheet, and it does work. However, in my case anyway, I found it cumbersome, and the snow stuck to it unless it was really cold. I am looking for a pair of non-disposable unlined oversized white coveralls that don't cost a zillion dollars. I'll then make my own branches on it.

Do you really need it? Good question. I'd say if you are on the ground, you need all the help you can get, but, if you can become a stump, and don't move at all, you can get away with a lot.
I have one tree stand, where the deer consistently look right at me. Why? I guess My shape doesn't fit in with the tree, then of course there's the ladder and stand itself. If I remain motionless, they generally stop looking at me after a bit. The camo would be good there I think.

I just buy the military white nylon stuff the same size as what I normally wear....

As above but if you want to buy commercial products Cabaelas Canada has some on sale as part of their Boxing week sales event. I have been using the nylon shells for 9 years and like them. Also, Princess Auto often has the white cotton ponchos with green splotches on for 10 - 15 bucks. Gunner 410 has one and it works well. Whatever you get, the most important piece is a matching balaclava as nothing stands out mnore than your face.

Good luck.

Use the military stuff it's cheap and highly effective. Just lied down in a field when retrieving a goose, and more came in and did not notice. Simple and cheap It's not tight fit or high quality but works great.

After the season wrap burlap or camo mesh around the stand. The deer will get used to seeing the large shape in the tree and it will hide some of your movement while you're hidden within it. I found many ppl were using my stand and the deer got to looking for a body in the tree. The coverings helped alot

i use fleece blanket from ikea, $5 and a hole in the middle like a puncho, added bonus of extra leyear

I bought a oversized white fleece jacket. I was very pleased with it, but deer kept busting me from 100 yards away. I soaked the jacket in Earl Gray tea. This stained the jacket to a off white and I had no more problems. Something to consider with new unwashed clothing.
