Questions about SIG 556 or Swiss Arms rifles

That is what I'd like, in green.

Have not started serious digging yet. It seemed like a good way to get a light on my forend without having to add a heavy full rail system.
 
I like subtle greens and green grays on arms, it looks good. Especially old parkerizing that's been in Cosmoline and turned that nice grayish green.
 
Green is the better colour. Pictures never seem to capture the hue properly. I swapped for black, only because it matched the quad rail better:

Uncle Walther, for crying out loud can you and Sprint start off a Swiss Arms thread for basics and options! It seems like every other thing has a special thread but these. I love this rifle and only find out odds and ends by the strangest of topics about it.

Times overdue.
 
The swiss rifle is a cross between the SIG 550 upper receiver and the SIG 540/542 5.56/7.62 lower receiver. I have the 542 and its close.........

The Scope clears the read drum without any significant fiddling at all.

Both Eye relief and comb height are acceptable to me.

The Carbine with the Short Dot would be what I'd refer to as the Deluxe Kit, you could buy a car with that kind of cash (but it wouldn't be a great car, so I think you went the right route :D )

Its cheaper than a quad.

The only thing that infuriates me, price wise, is the cost of mags. They are garishly overpriced, regardless of where the cash grab begins. Yes, they are good quality. No, they are not $100 magazines.

But considering that the LT104 mount alone was sinfully expensive, nothing really surprises me any more.


For those looking for decent molle pouches for their mags (aka - for those who care) I have had very good luck with TT M1A single mag shingles without having to shave off the SAN mag attachment points.

-Am I correct in remembering a 17 inch barrel Swiss Arms carbine? I haven't seen one around in a while. Only the 20, 14 and CQB. Tell me I'm not imagining.

You're not a fan of plastic? What the hell does that mean? The SIG magazines are almost indestructible and will work in a range of temperatures in which traditional steel mags would fail. Having said that, the 55x guns will work with older SG 540 steel mags.

The 551 LB barrel measures 17.9". There is also a long barrel version of the 552 (13.6").

Yes it is, very nice unit. Integral mount, sits very low, 10 year battery life, 2 MOA dot, 16 brightness settings, grotequely over-built, submersible up to 25 m, built-in back-up sights, Picatinny rail machined on top of the unit, anti-reflective honeycomb flips right up with the front lens cap and the rear flip-up has a transparent window so you can use it without exposing the glass.
