questions about the Beretta PX4 Storm

1) when topping up his pistol with one in the pipe cause he only had 3 rounds left for a 6 round drill. He also stopped obeying proper weapon handling when he was 'unloaded' then kept saying it's unloaded as usual LEO when called out. I did set him straight with following the range rules (ie muzzle pointed down range regardless).

2) they kept pointing it at me when checking the serials

3) accidental crossing and not noticing they went north instead of South due to them talking. Declared everything they had in the truck and got turned around.

So your friend is an idiot. That has nothing to do with the 1000's of officers across the country

If he was hitting the 2/3 ipsc target at 25 m he was hitting the scoring zone on a regular cbsa target. I bought a model D px4 from Questar with a 106mm barrel. I believe it was firestorm who made it. It was a much better barrel than the original beretta barrel, had less tolerance. I would shoot 250 at least half the time on an outdoor range. When I started shooting the cbsa issue pistol I was struggling to shoot in the high 240s on a good day. There was always one or two flyers at 25m that brought the score down.

Imo it's just a poor set up on that pistol. The trigger is terrible on the DA model, mags are the cheapest I've ever seen and the overall quality is lacking. At the time the M&P was the favourite pistol until it failed the drop test. The way the specifications were written in 2006/07 they were just missing a few good pistols that came out a couple of years later. I would have chosen the HK P2000, same gun chosen by Correctional Services Canada and USCBP. Better quality and smaller.
As for the course of fire, the rcmp have moved to a shorter distance and a more common sense approach better simulating an actual gun fight. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the 4 charges the rcmp face in New Brunswick after the Moncton shooting. I'm betting the federal government will roll out the patrol carbine to cbsa, dfo, environment and parks Canada to cover their ass.

Not a chance in hell. Zero. None. Never gonna happen.

Not a chance in hell. Zero. None. Never gonna happen.

I remember the days of just wearing a stamp on the belt. 95% of officers said we would never get batons, or oc spray. Then 99% said we would never get firearms. If the court in New Brunswick finds the rcmp guilty of one or more of those charges and an officer with another federal enforcement branch is shot the federal government could be held liable for their injuries if a carbine may have made the difference. A lot of the officers I work with and myself have worked with rcmp on a semi regular basis for years. Not only should all officers be equipped equally when doing the same job but the rcmp shouldn't have to find themselves in situations where one Mountie has a carbine and they are with two other federal officers who do not and cannot back up the Mountie adequately and the Mountie is by default responsible for their safety.
Cbsa management will not proactively address this obviously however, the federal government should be made aware of the potential liability this decision may place on them.

For anybody out there following this thread, I was finally able to obtain the unobtainable Beretta PX4 Assembled Safety Lever Type "92FS R.P."

Sadly, many Bothans died to bring it to me.

These things are dang near impossible to get at all yet alone in Canada. They're always sold out on Beretta's site but you can sign up to be notified when they become available, which took me 3 attempts and a couple months between them to finally get one on order. They literally sell out within minutes of getting the notification email. Makes me wonder if they only make one at a time.

Anyway, I am very happy with it.

It protrudes slightly further out than the OEM levers, maybe 1/16" or so, so between that and the shape of the levers themselves they are far easier to disengage. I can flick it off with the knuckle on my thumb like I can with my 92fs albeit not quite as easily as with the 92 due to the slight difference in relative position to the grip. But after months of practicing with the stiff and difficult to manipulate OEM levers these ones feel God sent.

I still haven't gotten around to upgrading the sights, although a site sponsor now carries the Truglo TFX sights I was after, but I did touch up the front sight with a drop of white primer paint and topped it with a drop of neon orange nail Polish from the neighbor. I can't get over how effective it is, might have to do the rear in green maybe.

Anyway, this was my favorite shooter before and now it's just about perfect!
