Questions: Colt 1892 DA .41

Hello Group,

I just picked up an old Colt and I was hopiing that someone could fill in some blanks for me. It's my understanding that it's an antique and that I should be able to deregister it. I'm wonder about the revolver itself: The markings are faint and the bluing looks more like parkerizing to me. Could this still be original? Also, I'm having some timing issues: The cylinder wil lock up tight if the crane screw is turned counter-clockwise (almost to the point of removal)
Anybody know if a fix for this? Spare parts? Value (approx)

Original finish would have been an iridescent blue.
SN puts it in 1897.

This should be the "Colt New Army and Navy" model. It was made in 38 and 41 Colt calibers.NOTE (Army rubber grips often included a date stamp within the COLT oval motif). They were blued but a nickel finish was not uncommon. They came with 3",4" and 6"inch barrels. The 3" is the rarest. The ones marked with WELLS FARGO & CO. are rare and bring premium prices. Standard models bring $90-$200,Navy varient &150- $400 and the Army varient $150-$300. These guns have short cylinder flutes and a double set of stop slots on the outside of the cylinder. It should turn counter clockwise. Your timing is probably worn or off. A gunsmith shold be able to tighten things up...ST...
