So, my rifle came with a 4x20 scope that is has a center line ~.75 above my receiver. It's comfortable and focused when I rest my top row of teeth on the stock of the rifle. I would like more power though!
I just got a 4-12x40 Bushnell Banner, but due to the end tube being over 2" dia. it has a centerline of 1.5" above my receiver and I am basically floating my head to have it focused. IF I found someway to remove the rear iron sight (pinned on) I could drop it another .5" with a new pair of rings.
Is this just what everyone is doing, maybe with a strap-on cheek riser? Is cheek a misnomer, since I really am resting much lower on my face? Does my rifle (toz 17) just have a stock/comb that is too low and meant for only iron sight use? I've seen rings that are even taller and that completely surprises me.
